I think Ronnie will win. Ding may have some scars from the masters still. About 6-3 then 10-5ish to Ronnie methinks

I agree with you Parrot, I think Ronnie will win having made a slow start. Maybe a 2-2 at the interval then Ronnie taking 3 frames on the bounce and eventually lead 5-3 or 6-2. The second session will be shared to result in a 10-5 or 10-6 win. Must put my crystal ball away now!

However, wouldn't a China final between Ron and Ding be a good warm-up?

Hopefully Ding with a close game. But I'd rather they had met in the semis/.
You play a long slow deadweight red to a corner pocket. As it approaches the pocket, a kamikaze woodlouse crawls out from under the cushion and makes its way across the table, conflicting with the path of the red precisely at the point the red gets there. The red, needless to say, veers off course, and the future of the woodlouse is uncertain. - The Statman

I think ( and hope) that Ronnie will win 10-8. I quess it will be 8-8 at some point and then Ronnie will pull of the next two frames with his experience.

And hit a 147 along the way

When I first saw this question, I thought of China, and it occured to me that Ding would have a very good chance of beating Ronnie there. Firstly because he's the absolute crowd favourite there, and secondly because Ronnie doesn't seem to like playing outside the UK.

But of course the W.Ch. is indeed a different story, Ronnie is no stranger to the venue, crowd and atmosphere, whereas Ding is. That is the only reason why I think Ronnie can win. I don't think the Masters incident will somehow be relived, Ding strikes me as a very well composed person who won't allow himself to go through anything like this again.

So, to cut a long story short, I think Ronnie will probably win but it'll be a thriller!

I would like to see ronnie win, any snooker tournament without him, isnt the same for me. same with all the other big names, jimmy, hendry, higgi, and errm murphy lol

the masters was something else with the big crowd and all the ronnie supporters and ronnie was at his very best.. I hope he can repeat that performance at the crucible and go through to the next round!

Ding will be very tough to beat and it could go either way, i woudnt like to bet on the match i would say it was 50/50 who ever wins...

I am sure Ronnie will be keen to put in that little extra now.

(Am I the only one who is getting a tad fed up with this "Ronnie and Ding hype"? I mean, there are more serious players in snooker than just those two )

I know what you mean. It will overshadow most of the 1st round of the WC no matter what happens. Even if there are 15 final frame matches I am sure most of the talk would still be on this match.

Tough one to call, both are obviously very good players and Ding is growing with confidence all the time, i'd still fancy Ronnie but only just

                              10-8

ok so ur heads in trouble lol

ronny should win easily, as usual depending on his mood. even if he has a bad day i still think he'll beat ding just perhaps closer call. if its a close call then i'll be good to watch as well. like a bit of nail biting and tummy twists.

if he si a in good shape im afraid he might "crush" ding. and ding is still very young and have proven to play some what less good under such pressure.

                                will be interesting.
