Just looking at some stats and I find the following little nuggets of (purely trivial) info concerning the upcoming World Championship:
• The second semi-final will (assuming there are no walkovers) be the 7,000th match in World Championship history.
• We may see the 1,000th Crucible century: the current total is 940, so 60 centuries would be required (not impossible).
• John Parrott has become the first player to qualify for the Crucible on nine occasions; meanwhile Michael Judge has become the first player to lose in the final qualifying round seven times.
• If at least two matches reach a decider, we will see the 100th Crucible decider.
• Stephen Hendry is almost guaranteed to leapfrog Jimmy White to second place in frames played at the Crucible - and could overtake Steve Davis in top spot. Current standings are: Davis 1,570, White 1,558, Hendry 1,545 followed by Parrott 1,068 and Griffiths 999.
• Stephen Hendry could become the first player to earn £2million at the Crucible alone. He is currently on £1,969,878 and twelve pence. Also, Mark Williams could become the third player to earn over £1million at the Crucible. He's currently on £984,050. Above him are Ronnie O'Sullivan (£1,277,600) and Hendry.
• Judd Trump could become the youngest player ever to win a match at the Crucible, at 17 and 245 days. No other 17-year-old has won a match at Sheffield.
• If Steve Davis wins 21 frames he will be the fifth player to win 1,000 World Championship frames, after Fred Davis (1,878), John Pulman (1,178), Walter Donaldson (1,133) and Stephen Hendry (currently 1,002).
• Saturday 28 April will be the 500th day of play at the Crucible.
