along with many others im surprised its 48-0 to Hendry & also 43-5 for Davis.
i certainly think Gilbert will make it reasonably tough for Hendry & as someone else said the Davis-Parrott game has 10-9 written all over it !!

interesting that 38 people have gone for Fu & only 10 for Hamilton-hope the majority are correct there !!

As Statman's not about, I will give the answer to my earlier question.

John Parrott has been involved in the most Crucible deciders - 9 (winning 6, losing 3).

Now for the hard part, which games were they?

      I will update...

          Thanks Cyril!
          Very interesting information!

I think the second man with most deciders is Ken Doherty?(6, 4 wins, 2 loses)
          1. 12-13 Hamilton
          2. 13-12 King
          3. 12-13 Hendry
          4. 10-9 Murphy
          5. 13-12 Dott
          6. 17-16 Hunter (from 9-15, 14-16 down)

I think it is, or was, 48-0 is because they know it is a sort of gimmie and by predicting it the otherway is almost throwing away 1 point in contest. Obviously Gilbert has a chance but the odds and chances are Hendry will win therefore people have predicted that way.

                      Hello,

Any chance of the average frame scores that have been predicted per player?

Also for the Murphy Trump match - could you let us know how it breaks down for those that have predicted Trump to win.

                      Dan.

Just say Gilbert pulls it back to 8-5 or something in the Hendry-Gilbert match - and it's not exactly a totally inconceivable scorline in a 1st round match nowadays involving the Hendry of now -, obviously Gilbert is going to be well in the contest and anything can happen if the run of the ball starts going Gilbert's way.

I think some of the scorelines predictions for that match are of the scale of when Hendry once hammered Surinder Gill and Danny Fowler, because it is Stephen Hendry. But it's not exactly a sure thing, and as been said earlier in the thread it's dangerous to make the assumption that just because you haven't seen Gilbert play that he must be totally useless.

I agree. To a large extent Hendry has the huge advantage of his reputation and experience. If he just so much as threatens to start playing well his opponent could start to become intimidated, and then have no chance. And then Hendry should be on a roll.

Of course it also depends how good Gilbert actually is, and how well he manages to play. If he plays well and Hendry is missing easy pots all the time as we see him doing often these days then Hendry could be going home early once again.

Another possibilty is that Hendry does play well, and Gilbert turns out to be totally brilliant, and outplays an on form Hendry.
"You can shove your snooker up your jacksie 'cos I aint playing no more!" Alex Higgins.
