don't know, perhaps they are in a hurry because of television time and interest to this match not only in UK (BBC), but also Europe (eurosport) and China (CCTV)?

Well, if, in the unlikely circuimstances of Ding making a comeback, then the session may enroach on the evening session if given the usual 40 min turnaround.
I know the match is LIKELY to be over soon but the organisers cant afford to take anything for granted, hence the rush to get them back on.

The way I understand it is that they'll not start a new frame if there's only 40 minutes left to the next match thinking that that frame might likely not finish in due time.

I think they mean the players DRAWN out of the hat for the championship, all future matches are mere FIXTURES. Or thats how I look at it anyway!
