    • Selby looks set to win 8 frames in a row to go 8-5 up unless Stephen Lee gets a snooker.

      • Well Stephen Lee got the two snookers then ended up snookering himself on the brown. He subsequently missed the brown all together and conceded the frame. It is 8-5 Selby

            • My observations of the tournament so far... Disappointing to say the least. The highlight so far was the Davis vs Parrott match for sheer excitement and tension and it was nice to see both players showing some good form too.
O'Sullivan also was a joy to watch although Ding struggled, it was mainly down to Ronnie playing well and putting Ding under too much pressure.

Most of the other games have been very much below par standard wise. Williams and Doherty were very poor considering what we have come to expect of them, Hendry was very lucky he was up against an opponent who buckled under the pressure otherwise he too could have been on his way home. Dott didn't handle the pressure either and I have to say its becoming a bit embarrasing to watch at times the simple pots that are being missed.

I hope the second round improves drastically, otherwise I can see a few people losing interest in the game. This is the World Championship and we expect to see the best players performing at or near their very best. Shame only one or two are showing any real signs of that.

              • It was the same last year in the first round. Almost no close matches and very big margins eventually. There was only 1 10-9 Bond - Hendry. a couple of 10-8. but a lot of loseers with 5 frames or less. Even a couple of 10-1's

                • Does anyone know how long this 4th frame between Higgins and Holt has lasted so far?

To answer my own question its 42 minutes. Ebdon and Dott's record could be under threat here.

                          • Does anyone else think the tables are playing too hard this year?
I say this, mainly because of the lack of big breaks and secondly because players seem under more pressure and missing easy pots, perhaps they are finding the pockets and cushions too difficult to play on.

Ebdon and Dott set the record for the longest single frame at the Crucible in the 27th frame. It lasted 74 minutes.
