  • What did Dott say?

At the interval, Dott talked with Eirian Williams about something he was clearly unhappy with. Through the murmur of the audience, all I could hear was "what the rulebook says", "stroke" and "are you OK with that?" from Williams.

    What was it about?

Why don't you ask Eirian!! I know he will be on his website later today checking messages www.ProSnookerRef.co.uk

I think it was about 1st frame, when Dott missed brown, and then took brown ball, when it was going into pocket,
BTW, new rules of snooker, the bad etiquette can be punished by frame or even match!

i thought it was about having played two fouls and being warned he must hit a red legally the next time or lose that frame......

he was obviously gutted to lose but seemed rather unsporting i thought with his handshake with Mculloch-the briefest handsake with no eye contact

Dott really showed his whiny side as he did in the beginning of this season.

He blamed the way Ian played for his loss.

That's very immature and Dott certainly didn't gain any points with me. And now I'm very glad he's out and Ian is in.

Take his post in the correct context before you hang him elvaago, He was honest enough to say he beat himself because of Ian's style of play.

I agree, Dott's comment is just honesty and no harm. Don't think Ian would mind at all.

so, were now on to what he said after he lost the match?

from what i can tell he said he let ian get to him, by his style of play, which to me is admitting weakness, and/or the other player getting the better of him in a match. honesty.

mind you, i had ian to win 10-8 in the predictions, and would have liked either to go through, so its a bit of a muchness for me.

                  well played ian. job done.

unlucky graeme. buckled a small bit when looked like the match wasnt going his way.

Dott had a lot of expectations before the start of the WC - he was playing well and he was one of the favourites. So losing yesterday was quite a shock to him. But I agree with what Semi writes - if he let Ian 'get to him' well that 's because Ian was the better player yesterday.
I saw that going differently in my mind

That was about the worst I've ever played. I just didn't feel anything, I couldn't even get angry. I don't know why that happened.
It was probably the worst draw I could have had because Ian beat me here two years ago. I wasn't going to say that before the match because it would have given Ian a boost.
The way he plays is very frustrating. He's up and down, cleaning the white, he knows the shot he's going to play but takes ages to play it. I tried not to let it get to me, but half way through the first frame I started to get frustrated.
When it was 4-2, that was the only time in the match I felt comfortable. I was very nervous to start with. I was trying hard all the way through, but just felt there was nothing there. I just couldn't get going
I've no chance of finishing No 1 in the rankings now. I'll probably be about 6 or 7. This has spoilt what was a very good season.
There's no doubt I'll put the cue away for a few weeks. It's very unlikely I'll be watching the snooker. Not when Ian's playing anyway!
A bit of sour grapes here. But then, he looked done in yesterday. I started to feel sorry for him, when he started guzzling all that energy drink stuff.
Btw. he did fine with Ebdon, I don't see, how McCulloch can be more annoying...

                      Anyway, well done Ian!

indeed wim. by saying he let ian get to him, is, IMHO, admitting a weakness, and admitting he wasnt abe to compete mentally to someone upsetting his own rhythm, which you have to be able to do at the top level (GD usually does do)

if i was at the WC and lost i doubt id want to watch the guy that beat me, even if he was my best friend. id probably be glad hes done well, but would probably go a holiday, as id a fortnight free that before i couldnt make plans during.

Frustrated during the very first frame? Looks to me like he couldn't handle the pressure... Great pity however, it could have been a much better match.

I'm delighted the whining little muppet lost - hopefully the world championship will a better spectacle now he's out.
