What a complete and utter boring session. They go on about how boring the final session of last years final was but for me that is boring snooker.

But he hasn't got anybody to play against. I would say he is probably playing a bit better than Stevens was yesterday becuase, like Stevens, more often than not Ronnie needed 2 sometimes 3 chances to take the frame.TSF World Champion 2010

I expected Ding to put up more of a fight... it was quite disappointing...
Thanks a million for the comments Sem, those along with watching the match was quite an experience!!
I don't even want to get started on Eurosport for showing weightlifting instead... I won't, it's the wrong thread to nag!

I managed to watch it. And it was amazing.
If Ronnie had played this match against someone with previous Crucible experience, it would have been 5-4 or even 6-3 for the opponent tonight. Ding just didn't exist in the first five frames. Then Ronnie relaxed a bit (more ), took his foot off the pedal, chose to break off and cue by using the pool bridge - probably to fight the lurking feeling of disinterest - and Ding seemed to recover, with that beautiful century.
Forget the percentages. (97% pot sucess for Ronnie and 72% for Ding. 68% for Ronnie's long pots and 48% for Ding.) What pleased me most, as a die-hard Ronnie fan who is not ashamed to admit it is the fact that Ronnie showed a good match discipline. He didn't just give up when needing one snooker but in fact laid a very good one and...won the frame that should have been Ding's. I remember quite a number of occasions when he just...couldn't be bovvered. Quite refreshing to see that from Ronnie, not getting carried away that is, keeping his focus.
This was Ronnie's biggest advantage in this match. Ding's lack of Crucible experience. And he knew how to make the most of it because it is going to be a totally different story come next season.
That being said...anything can happen. *crosses fingers for tomorrow afternoon*S.P.I.L.F.

It s very theoritical to say if Ronnie had played someone else the score would have been this or that. He is playing Ding and again he is outplaying him. I don't believe that Ding's first appearance is the main reason here. He was pulvirized at the Masters too. I am having doubts about Ding's force in the long termI saw that going differently in my mind

How can ding play so poorly, after last years early performances I think he is making the mistake of playing the player not the balls

I've been watching Ronnie since 1993 and I can tell when he wants it and when he doesn't. This afternoon he was up for it, his shot selection was disciplined and his temperament was spot on - quite the opposite of how he played in the China Open.
As a rule of thumb Ronnie enjoys the premier league, the Masters and the World Championship - the rest of the tourneys he can't be bothered with.
I think he is secretly yearning for the opportunity to do a revenge job on Neil Robertson in the next round - I also think he still felt like he owed Ding one for beating him in the NI Trophy final."And slowly and surely they drew their plans against us"
