Well, just got back from a most enjoyable three days in Sheffield. On Thursday, after several pints in The Old Monk, we had to endure a long, drawn out uneventful session by Hamilton and McCulloch. A combination of the drink and the game itself caused me problems in keeping awake! After six frames, we decided to adjourn to the pub!
Yesterday was much better and excellent to see Parrott dominate the session against Murphy. Even though JP took the session 5-3, it could well have been 6-2 or even 7-1! Great 123 break to level at 8-8.
I decided to purchase a radio ear piece for the afternoon - well worth it, even if we copped the Great WT!
In the afternoon we saw a cracking session between Stevens and Allen. Stevens was devastating in the early stages but Allen came back superbly with a string of big breaks. He is great to watch and his action reminds me of Perrie Mans. Left handed, of course, he has a very light grip but gets plenty of power and plays at a great tempo.
Last night, unfortunately, Murphy got of to a flyer, making a big ton in the first and adding an easy win in the second. Parrott had chances to win both of the next two but missed several easy shots resulting in him losing both. So at 12-8, the final frame seemed almost inevitable.
This morning Stevens was in great form to lead 7-3 and 9-4 but Allen produced a real gutsy sequence of breaks and pulled upto only 9-7. Should be a cracking final session.
Have to say, Richard Beere is pretty hopeless has MC. I don't know if he thinks up some of the nicknames himself but he really needs sorting out! Bring back Alan Hughes!
Good to see The Statman and kellie-text, had a nice drink and chat last night. I saw Chris de bag across the arena too. Very nice sleeveless denim jacket, Sir!
