It seems that we are indeed watching a record being broken.

I feel sorry for Matthew, but I guess he deserved to loose

How many matches now has he deserved to lose yet win this season?

                Tian Pengfei 5-4
                Ricky Walden 5-4
                Neil Robertson 5-4
                Matthew Stevens 13-12
                Jamie Jones 3-2

Hmmmm, I wonder if he made a little prayer to the man upstairs.

I think he had chances in every frame today, except maybe one of them.

I think even Jimmy would be able to convert at 12-7.....

I know Ken Doherty made a big comeback once in a semi-final to win 16-17 or something? Anyway, for murphy to win like that was absolutely amazing, poor Matthew must be completely devastated to lose like that and to lose his place in the top 16.

Coming back from 11-5 and 12-7 to win it 13-12 is mightily impressive and I take my hat off for his snooker skills.

But it shows once again how incredibly good Matthew Stevens is at not finishing the job. He's completely Jimmied the match.
I guess, that says it all! I can't believe that just happened, I mean how in the world, can one let frame after frame slip away...
Yes, hat off to Murphy for keeping his cool!

Oh come on, there's absolutely no way a snooker match best of 25 frames can be luck! Matthew had plenty of chances but bottled it, plain and simple.

                        • Well one line from Virgo made me laugh.

"He must now think he is invicible"

No Virgo, he already thought that.

Well I shall name but a few instances. Matthew getting awful bounces off coushins when he is in to win a frame. Murphy leaving balls over pockets yet getting a jammy flick off a baulk colour. Fluking a red to start off a break. Shall I continue?

                            • I haven't seen the other matches but this he certainly deserved to win. I dislike Murphy but he was better than Stevens, simple as.
You play a long slow deadweight red to a corner pocket. As it approaches the pocket, a kamikaze woodlouse crawls out from under the cushion and makes its way across the table, conflicting with the path of the red precisely at the point the red gets there. The red, needless to say, veers off course, and the future of the woodlouse is uncertain. - The Statman

                              • oh well, I really dislike Murphy and was hoping for Stevens to win....
but there is one good thing about him winning: Steve Davis is now guaranteed his top 16 place next year
(not that there was much doubt about that anyway...)
I hope Murphy gets beaten in the next round.
