If you think I'm totally wrong on something, then by all means speak out and say so, but PLEASE don't hide so cowardly behind that rep button.
I do agree with you about anonymous neg reps, although hypocritically i once dished one out myself for someone unfairly criticising Alex Higgins. My excuse and im sticking to it is that i was drunk and emotional"You can shove your snooker up your jacksie 'cos I aint playing no more!" Alex Higgins.

Well... he got a bit stressed with that respotting scenario, didn't he? Gosh. I don't think I've ever seen a ref getting quite so stroppy about a situation before. When they've had a difficult respot that I've seen, they've always seemed to have taken it with a bit of a sense of humour.
I've got no problem with Eirian Williams really - I've seen him ref a few times, and he always seemed very professional and experienced. I don't think he's got the calmness that some of the others seem to though; people such as Jan Verhaas and Michaela Tabb seem to vanish into the background far more effectively, if you know what I mean.

I said Williams was aweak ref when I saw he was announced as the ref for the final. A couple of seasons ago I complained on either this board or the BBC that Williams was hopeless at respotting the balls and seemed amateurish.
I got my head bitten off because Colin Brinded had just died recently and I was told he was clearly upset because he'd just lost his mate. My reply was if he wasn't fit to referee he shouldn't have been there, but now I think he's just demonstrated he's not composed enough to be a final referee. Even with a TV screen he made a mess, and made one of Selby's shots more difficult by misplacing the yellow.
Jan Verhaas is by far the best referee I've ever seen - never seen any player so much as disagree with him and he always fades neatly into the background when not needed.

Jan Verhaas is the best by far in my opinion. You play a long slow deadweight red to a corner pocket. As it approaches the pocket, a kamikaze woodlouse crawls out from under the cushion and makes its way across the table, conflicting with the path of the red precisely at the point the red gets there. The red, needless to say, veers off course, and the future of the woodlouse is uncertain. - The Statman

GAVpowell is spot on. He also made a misjudgement on the white near the baulk cushion. It was the only ball he had to concentrate on and did put it in the wrong place. The first day he almost spoiled the atmosphere when someone made a little joke when the balls had to be replaced with help of the video.
Eireen said: Please, keep your jokes to yourself! He appeared to be very stressed.
