  • Favourite moments so far in the World Championship

    Hi guys,

............and what a great world championship it's been so far. And just wondered what your favourite moments have been?, matches or otherwise?

A favourite match of mine has to be the Ron V Robbo one 13-10, 2nd round, and a lot of pressure on Ron considering Robbo had beaten him in their previous 2 encounters. Nervous tension, excitement, it had it all. Well done Ron...

Also really enjoyed the Stephen Hendry and Ali Carter match 13-6, 2nd round, both great players and sad to see Hendo go out, but well done to Ali all the same.

Also thoroughly enjoyed the Higgy V Ron match 13-9, Q-Fs, and great to see two great players battling it out, and great sportsmanship. And well done to Higgy.

Enjoyed also seeing Mark Selby and Murph having a joke and a laugh together in their match yesterday, and looking so relaxed.

What have been your favourite moments?

    Lol............xx

Uhm, hard to say, really. I'm in the middle of snooker overload now.

    * Some match (Maguire v Hamilton?). Maguire gets up from a shot, Jan Verhaas standing quite near him and gets nudged where I image that most men would not like to get nudged with the back of a cue. Mags apologises and Verhaas replies in a uncannily high voice "It's ok!"

As for favourite matches, there's a thread somewhere in the chaos of the lounge dealing with that.

      Hi Maija,

..........that's funny, poor bloke, and I'm a glutton for punishment, the more matches the better, but know what you mean about snooker overload...

Currently watching Mark Selby v Murph, interesting one , and will log on to lounge too, didn't realise, but great matches though this wc...

I would say Parrot's matches, they were so funny with his jokes

Also Ronnie's matches, his play very excited me

        Well Stevens' comeback to form

        Youngsters results-they played so good-Selby,Allen,Trump

        Good Carter's, Higgo's, Maguire's games

And of course high standart of tournament with a lot of centuries

          Hi Missy,

..........agree, and really nice to see the younger players play well too, in particular Allen, Trump, and Mark Selby still battling it out...

          It's been a great championship......lol..xx

I think my favourite moment in the whole tournament was Joe Swail winning against Mark Williams, which I had hardly dared to hope for after the first session

              My highs and lows ...

Already posted this in another thread ... went unoticed apparantly, probably because it was in the wrong place, so

              Highs

John Higgins World Champion and N°1 after a rather miserable year You must have worked your socks off John, congratulations! And thanks for proving me wrong: players over 30 still can do it.
John Parrott's performance (especially the seccond session against Murphy) and show
Ronnie O'Sullivan, after a calamitous morning session vs John Higgins, going to practice, and coming back to offer us a cracker of a third session, in style, fighting spirit and a display of sportsmanship
The raise of the young Jud Trump, Mark Allen and of course Mark Selby
The semis !!! THAT was exciting!

              lows

Stephen Hendry ... lets pretend he wasn' t there. So sorry ...
Graeme Dott whining in his post match interview.
Eirian Williams consistently in trouble when he had to respot.
Ali Carter in the quaters who has been brilliant, beaten by exhaustion at least as much as by his opponent (taking nothing away from Mark Selby). Snooker deserves better than this ...
Matthew Stevens who seemed to find some form at last after a terrible year (as a person as well as as a player), leading 11-5 vs Shaun Murphy, and then crumbling inexplicabily. I hate to see a human person going to pieces like that! What can we do Matthew to help you through this?
Shaun Murphy's body language and attitude at the end of the matches vs Parrott and vs Stevens. I'm sure Parrott does'nt give a cent ... but Stevens?
And finally, me, not being able to stay awake till the end of the Final; I'm ashamed!

Favourite moment?? Easily answered..John Higgins potting the pink that gives him the victory of course!! ...or wait, maybe John lifting the trophy...hmm dunno...

I have some lows too though:
                Hendry's early exit
                Doherty's early exit
The looong and boooring match between Hamilton and McCulloch (which I thankfully only had to watch glimpses of..nontheless it was long and boring)

The Selby-Murphy semi final for the spirit in which it was played
The Higgins-Maguire semi-final for the sheer quality
                  The final for Selby's comeback

                  Earlier highlights for me were:

Joe Swail and Fergal O'Brien for playing with smiles on their faces
Anthony Hamilton's final 5 frames against McCulloch
                  Ali Carter's performance against hendry
Mark Allen's victory against Doherty, he showed no nerves whatsoever

                  Low points

Some of the balls Hendry missed were so easy it was untrue
                  Joe Delaney - totally over-awed
The coverage on the BBC (a particular favourite being them leaving the Parrott-Davis match at 9-9)

                    Ok my lows:

                    Hendry's poor play

                    Poor Dealaney's performance

                    Doherty's early lose

                    Murphy's immodest

Glad to read not everybody thinks Joe Delaney is a bad player (got the impression when I was sitting there watching his match) - I felt so sorry for him
BUT he said he'd enjoyed playing during the first session... that's something
Anyway, it was great to see him at the Crucible (I had not really expected him to make it having seen the draw for the qualifying rounds) and I hope he'll be back
--> so I don't really know whether it was a high or low for me - I'd still tend to say a high!

Mark Selby's semi is the most exciting game in this champion tour!!!

it just deserved my sitting up so late here in China....(the game went from 2:00 AM to 6:00AM!!!)
