110sport is run by Lee Doyle, who is also a WPBSA board member.
Two years ago, the board rejected a six figure offer by the Perform Group - the world leaders in internet streaming who have deals with dozens of sports governing bodys and major football clubs - to stream the qualifiers FOR FREE on betting websites. Perform went on to produce the Championship League for Matchroom.
So now we have a website run by a WPBSA board member that has 'attained' the rights to the qualifiers and is charging to show them.
Well done everyone.

IF JV and WT do do a bit at pontins I hope they make allowances that the level may be slightly lower than the heights of Ronnie and Hendry at their best...."You can shove your snooker up your jacksie 'cos I aint playing no more!" I also know that Betfred were looking into streaming the qualifiers as I had talks with them about putting the streaming on to TSF
But as it has been said many times in the past The WSA is still a boys club and if you are in that club you can reap the rewards and if you do not know the secret handshake then you will get nothing even if your offerings are better than anything form within the club.

it costs money from somewhere to put this on who do you expect to pay then ????
this paragraph in the original post explains exactly where they can make money if they offered the streams for free or a lower fee, the main point is high viewing figures are essential when it comes to selling advertising.
"When broadcasting events like this, it is important to recognise that the viewers are not the costumers. They are the products which are sold to advertisers. The more viewers there are, the easier it is to sells ads, both in the arena and in the broadcast itself. With a potential of viewers in the millions in the far east it is definitely a mistake to charge for the streaming. At £2.99 per session they should be happy with a few thousand viewers, which is too little to make any real money from advertisements."

The problems with the 25 year slide in the fortunes of snooker have nothing to do with faster cloths,
bigger bags, too many reds, "cookie-cutter" potting machines, or lack of "characters".
New audiences were not seeded, nurtured and harvested, resulting, as you say mate, with no new "products".
Really, when you think what's happened to our beautiful, brilliant sport... it's crazy! *
Think back on the incredible effect colour TV had on snooker in the 80's... realize now the incredible new opportunities snooker can capitalize on. Thanks to new technologies, the internet, smaller, less expensive and better digital cams, cheap facilitating software and the fact that there are more computers than TVs,
a whole new fan (product) base awaits. Web streaming can reach 1000 X more people with 10 X more snooker events worldwide than restricted licence broadcast by Euro or BBC... programming NOT SOLD to other countries. And if snooker can take advantage of the new paradigm, the one in the music industry that says it is vastly more profitable to give away downloads to millions and then reap big ticket revenues on live touring events worldwide, it can create a new generation of supporters, viewers and players.
If that "product" growth can be demonstrated, sponsors will line up.
Meanwhile, in snooker terms, let's develop the proper form, look at what shot is on now, make it, then carry on to our quest to make the 147,000 pound prize!
Snooker Web Streaming... Give it up!
