It’s also a bit confusing to me to hear that players have to pay for all their expenses when they go to events outside Britain, when they all seem to stay in the same hotel and they even are all transported by buses from there to the venue sometimes.

I mean, if they were there totally on their own, would all of them stay at the same hotel and travel by bus to the venue?

Regarding who made what, or what made who, what you say about A.Higgins is probably true, but if the BBC hasn’t pick up the game like they did, we probably wouldn’t be here.

Players are important, yes, but let’s not get carried away. A.Higgins is long gone from the tour and the game is still standing. I’m not sure I can say the same thing in case the BBC decides to pull the plug on the green baize.
Indeed as Danny said they don't pay for their expenses outside UK. And yes they were all in the same hotel (Ronnie BTW thanked the hotel personel in their collective name for their excellent service during the award ceremony)

BBC is not an organiser. BBC is a sponsor and a broadcaster. WPBSA is the organiser of the MT. If WPBSA would disappear there would be a difficult period but the game would survive and another organisation would emerge. I'd even say is emerging. If players disappear then it's the end of it. They make the "product" and if the product is good it's thanks to them, nobody else.

My point was single players are not as important as other single agents in the game. If they think they are, they are fooling themselves. I understand that they want to squeeze as much money from the game as they possibly can while they are still able to compete at the highest level, but once they are gone, someone else will take their place in the spotlight.

Anyway, I’m glad that the expenses issue was clarified, because now it does put all the moaning about going overseas in a different perspective. Well, to me at least.

With no Ronnie 'o' Sullivan in the game, i dont think snooker would survive in the present climate. Players such as him, Hendry, White, Higgins and Davies should be able to command appearance fee's like in other sports, such as Woos and Federer etc.

Without these icons, snooker would take years to build up a following like it has. With these players out of the picture, what interest is there for sponsors and tv companies, other than just coverig a snooker match with no celebrities.

On another note, does anybody know how the first round ranking points work. Players in tier 2 get 280 pints if they lose in round one, 910 if they win, but it also states that seeded player in round one get 560 points, but how?

Who are seeded players in round one? And iv'e not seen any players awarded these points? Does anybody have any idea????

Yes I know! About the ranking points that is!
The 560 points are there for the rare occurance that someone wins their round one match but for some reason is unable to play in their round two match.

It has happened. I remember someone couple of seasons ago getting a back spasm overnight and they couldn't play the next day.

Thats great, Thanks. We have been racking our brains for ages trying to work that one out. But hold on, if you win your first round match then pull out of your second round match, surely you are entitled to the points you have already earn't, ie the 910 point for winning your first match. Why should you only get 560 points??
