If say Selby, Higgins, and Carter are all on 3 points/wins, how do they decide, who is playing in the play-offs?
And it seems not everyone will have played everyone before the start of play-offs, or am I missing something?
as usual
they will decide the positions in the league table on the number of frames won and lost by each player
and every player plays 6 matches in the group stage then it is the play-offs

And in the case of Carter losing to Trump without stealing a single frame and thus equaling the 11W-11L ratio of Mark Selby he still finishes ahead of him (placed 4th and earned an advance into the play-offs) as he defeated Mark in their respective match.
Robbo's potting is so good he doesn't need to bother with positional play like the rest of the players. He laughs in the face of those who spend hours on the practice table perfecting their cue ball control! ~ Forman 2009 Grand Prix Fantasy Game winner

I think the 4th place is between Higgins and Carter, the later needing to win that decider against Trump.

I guess then global-snooker results table was not updated yet at that point I was checking it - seemed that some players had played 4 games with just 1 more was remaining, while Higgins had 6 matches already.
Will Ronnie be purple already tomorrow?

At the time I wrote the post it was certain that Day and Murphy will the last and next to the last in this group.
Trump's and Maguire's advance into the latter stages was given.
Higgins, Selby and Carter had all 3 wins.
Given Trump's results and the fact he was one frame up against Carter I was leaning towards Ali losing the match. I was contemplating the positions with the scenario of Ali not winning a frame against Judd.
John's W/L ratio would be then better than Ali's as well as Mark's. The battle for the 4th place would be therefore decided based on the result of Ali's and Mark's previous match.
I could have made a mistake in my calculations, though.

Never mind how they qualified, but Trump-Selby seems to be a great match. Selbs just stole the first frame due to a careless safety by Trump, who was already 1 snooker ahead...
