This actually become "positive discrimination" in favour of the new boys. Would have to say it's about time they go some advantage from the ranking system.
Interesting, was wondering how they would resolve that issue.

That list definitely is not correct. Tony Drago is definitely not the 21st best player in the world and some players such as Reanne Evans, Issara Kachaiwong and Noppon Saengkham who have never played a World Snooker event should not be ranked higher than Hicks, White and Davies.

yes there are points from 11 PTC events and 7 World Ranking tournaments including the World Championship to go on top of that list.

starter points now clarified by WSA site - so points earned for Crucibl ranking as follows.

by removing starter points from players who were new to tour last season (eg. Drago) those players will drop down rankings at the cut-off points and then climb again by the end of the season - it will be hard for any 1st or 2nd season pro to break the top 64 in the first 2 ranking re-sets - because of this

Well the clarification has confused me even more!

How is it fair for one player to have just points earned in one season than someone that has had more than one season? The rankings will become distorted and will be an unfair reflection on the player.

well the World Rankings isued by World Snooker is most definitly wrong just Look at Dave Harold position thats so false its unbelievable he is 19 places out when points are taken away.

World Snooker dont even understand their own up date system whitch quite frankly is a embarasement.

the purpose of starter points is to give players a chance to climb the rankings as they progress through season 1 (as well as meaning that 1st season players have a chance of breaking the 64) - in their 2nd season they will gradually have played enough tournaments to climb of their own accord

that's cos they're not taking points off until the cut-off as per their explanantion below.........

"Please click the pdf document at the bottom of this page to see the latest world rankings.

The rankings now work as a two-year rolling list. There will be three 'cut-off points' during the 2010/11 season, when the ranking points for the corresponding tournaments during the 2008/09 season will be taken off.

The first cut-off point is after EPTC2, which runs from October 1-3. The ranking points for the 2008 Northern Ireland Trophy, Roewe Shanghai Masters and Grand Prix will then be removed. The updated list will then be used for seedings for the UK Championship and the Masters.

The second cut-off point is after the UK Championship (December 4-12), when the list will be used to seed the German Masters and Welsh Open. The third cut-off point is after the Welsh Open (February 14-20), when the list will be used to seed the China Open and Betfred.com World Snooker Championship."

and i say that is quite frankly amateurish rubbish and very wrong.

so that means players are actually provisionally out of correct positions just look at Harold hes 31 but he will not be seeded there in a fit unless he has a brilliant start of season.

                          so it's not positive discrimination (0 - 0 - 0 - 5850 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 5040), nor equal valuation to the 1 year lists (2225 - 2125 - 200 - 1300 - 1190 - 1440 - 200 - 2210) - it's an early loss of the starter points (5850 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 5040 - 0 - 0 - 0)????

With the WS Rankings a player will be playing the 2011 World Championship with points for the 2009 and 2010 World Championship not to mention china open included.....then when the Winner is anounced the celebration started then they take off the 2009 points.

very confusing and very badly thought out.
