  • The Rankings Revision - Current Status

14 of the top 16 players have been decided for the next rankings revision after the Brugge Open. Although in practice, all positions have currently been filled! There need to be sensational runs at this tournament and in Belgium if they are going to be taken away! After the Last 16 of the World Open the current positions are:

    1. Neil Robertson
    2. Ali Carter
    3. Johh Higgins
    4. Stephen Maguire
    5. Ding Junhui
    6. Mark Williams
    7. Ronnie O'Sullivan
    8. Shaun Murphy
    ---------------
    9. Mark Selby
    10. Stephen Hendry
    11. Graeme Dott
    12. Mark Allen
    13. Jamie Cope
    14. Peter Ebdon

TO BE DECIDED: Currently in possesion:

    15. Mark King (2,005 points ahead)
    16. Marco Fu (1,930 points ahead)

CAN BECOME PART OF THE TOP 16

    17. Matthew Stevens (1,930 points behind) - Unlikely. If Marco Fu reaches the 2nd round of the Brugge Open, he seals his place in the Top 16.
    22. Ricky Walden (5,265 points behind) - Even more unlikely. Must win the World Open and then win in Brugge. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

    Current Positions 17-32

    17. Matthew Stevens - CAN BECOME TOP 16
    18. Mark Davis - Top 32
    19. Stephen Lee - Top 32
    20. Ryan Day - Top 32
    21. Barry Hawkins - Top 32
    22. Ricky Walden - CAN BECOME TOP 16
    23. Liang Wenbo - Top 32
    24. Joe Perry - Top 32
    25. Stuart Bingham - Top 32
    26. Martin Gould - Top 32
    27. Judd Trump - Top 32
    28. Gerard Greene - Top 32
    29. Andrew Higginson - CAN LOSE TOP 32 PLACE (1,940 points ahead)
    30. Ken Doherty - CAN LOSE TOP 32 PLACE (1,200 points ahead)
    31. Steve Davis - CAN LOSE TOP 32 PLACE (1,030 points ahead)
    32. Mike Dunn - CAN LOSE TOP 32 PLACE (435 points ahead)

Jamie Burnett, Rob Milkins, Marcus Campbell, Nigel Bond, Michael Holt and Tom Ford are fighting for the remaining places in the Top 32.

    Big Movers
    • Matthew Stevens and Mark Davis have both climbed 8 places since the World Championship
    • Meanwhile Ryan Day has dropped 8 places and Liang Wenbo 7 in his first season as an elite top 16 player.
    • Martin Gould has climbed 17 places to get into the Top 32 for the 1st time.
    • Despite his run to the quarters at the World Championship, Steve Davis has dropped 9 places and is on the verge of losing his Top 32 place.
    • Michael Holt has had a poor start to the season and his ranking reflects this - he has dropped 13 places.
    • Barry Pinches' form in the PTC has awarded him a 16 place rise.
    • Stuart Pettman and Dave Harold have both had double figure falls.
    • The highest new player his year is IBSF champion Alfie Burden. He has risen to 57th place.
    • Jimmy White has fallen into the relegation zone, although with a good run at Brugge, he can regain his place in the Top 64
    • Dave Gilbert has had the worst start to the season out of any main tour player from the previous season. He has fallen 24 places to 79th place, having just won just over a thousand points this season so far.
    • Only Reanne Evans has failed to win a match this season thus far.

    Burnett isn't playing EPTC2.

Dunn (32) and Milkins (34) play each other in round 1 - this could well decide a top 32 spot.

it just shows how great a player Stephen Hendry was to be holding on to the top 10 playing so poor overall and with Dott playing Gould in brugge Hendry could be seeded higher at the next cut off point than he was start of season despite only Playing 2 PTC And Winning 1 PTC Match and 2 in the World Open.

Sad to see the nugget slipping away there

Would it be possible to show how many points they have, as well as their possition?

it just suites players that's desperate to turn round their careers so they give it more than others in them.

jimmy would play anything at the moment for ranking points and give it 100%

other players will go through the motions if they pick up a few points great if they don't they don't mind the motivation not there.

Let's not forget that, with Higgins banned currently, Top 17 will be good enough to earn a place in the Top 16 seeds for these tournaments won't it?

not really Higgins ban will be lifted for the UK however with Johns father not well it isn't beyond the bounds of possibility he wont be at the UK therefore Stevens gets a top 16 seed spot if that's the case.

John will be eligible to play in EPTC5 and 6 Before the UK but my opinion he will not bother going to them at this time because of his personal situation.
