  • Looking to next season

Yes, OK before anyone says it, I know its still October and we're only about a third of the way through this season. But isn't this about the time a schedule for next season should start to be thought about, in order for it not to be such a rush come the end of this season. Its important to have a long time to iron out any potential wrinkles that they may come across.

I think the PTC & EPTC are doing a fantastic job. I think for it to progress further is to next season, sort out some sort of live streaming and proper LIVE SCORING! IMO updating it every 30 seconds isn't really good enough. I also think that the tournaments need to be moved around the country as clearly the Academy isn't up to holding an event of this scale.

In Europe, we have seen fantastic crowds thus far. In Belgium, they ran out of seats for the final. The setup looks good also. Really good idea that you can see more than one table at a time.

The World Open was a great success. Over a week, we saw 43 players; some for the first time and some making a comeback. The format works and I hope to see it for sometime to come!

You notice in the list below no room for the Welsh Open. This tournament has fallen down the pecking order in recent years. It has been poorly attended and the lower ranking points for this event reflect it. Have replaced it with a tournament in the Middle East.

    Next Season IMO:
    • World Championship @ Sheffield
    • UK Championship @ York
    • The Masters @ Wembley
    • World Open @ Glasgow
    • China Open @ Beijing
    • World Matchplay @ Shanghai - Rebranding - Based on World 9 ball championship format.
    • European Championship (Not just a German event) @ Berlin
    • Dubai Desert Classic? - Replacement for Welsh Open
    • 4 UK PTCs (SW Academy, Northern Snooker Centre, Sheffield Academy, Pontins Prestatyn)
    • 4 European PTCs (Brugge, Killarney, Furth, Prague)
    • 3 World PTCs (Shanghai, Melbourne, Bangkok)
    • Players Championship Finals @ Dublin?
    • Sky Sports Shoot Out @ Reading?
    • Power Snooker Exhibition @ Indig02
    • QSchool @ Sheffield Academy

In total 19 ranking events. A decent number and will keep players busy just about every week.

What would everyone else like for next season?

First of all, WS must have another media coverage : live scoring and/or live streaming.

World Open was successful because of its format.
PTC and EPTC resemble it but we can't witness it because of the poor coverage.

We're in the middle of this new format and we may have another point of view in a few months.
We will be then back to standard ranking events with TOP16 and 16 qualifiers.
I'm pretty sure I'm gonna miss the 64 other pro players.

PTC is very dynamic and should remaiin in the UK or Europe : huge snooker fans are interested in also watching future stars.
The other point is that many pro players can't afford traveling to Australia or Asia.
Perhaps a standard ranking event with TOP16 is the best way to promote snooker there.

I also hope something will be done for Qualifying events not to remain anonymously played.

World Open and PTC repsect the game of snooker.
    I hope they will remain.
I'm not sure about 6 red, powerball, or potblack...looks like soccerbeach or penalty shoot outs..

I find this post a little early, but as said livestreaming from PTC and ETC please !
I think we already now can conclude that the change of the ranking system is positive, as it awards the onform players.

Let's not run before be can walk. I'm sure if they could get it updated reliably every 30 seconds then we would all be very happy!

i can tell you although the page for Live Scoring only updating every 30 seconds if you click it and go from table to table it does actually do it up to date but on a static page it changes every 30 seconds.

thats not the issue the only reason its a issue is because it tells us when it refreshes i bet the other live scoring was exactly the same but kept it secret

my issue is it should work no point having it braking down mid tournament after changing it because it was embarasing the sport.

last weekend was the most embarrassed its ever been.

                        Interesting point of view...

The way I see it, we have more than two months between the last and the next televised event. But after the new year, there are six televised events, which means there won't be any major gaps.
