Just checked the cue sports schedule on the Asian Games website. There are only double matches played on Dec 4, so Ding must be playing doubles as well. Surely they can find someone else to play the doubles.

Ding might withdraw from the Premier League

Everybody knows that Ding even often loses in the many qualifying matches and just look at how he had been shut out from the Grand Prix, therefore it really sounds a bit crazy to send him thousands miles away in Doha to play some best of five games, with the high hope of guaranteeing some more gold medals. Not hundred percent predictable though in my opinion.
It is reported that Ding will participate in all the competition for group, single and double titiles in the Asian Games which will last during Dec 4-7. Good luck to him anyhow.
Another piece of news from China media: Ding has been allowed to enter a famous university in Shanghai(which is one of the best even in the world wide) to continue his school education. It is said that he may choose History or Literature or English language as his major according to his personal interests; the courses would be arranged during the off season months from May to August starting from 2007.

This pretty much confirms it unless something dramatic happens.

According to that article he would withdraw fro the final should he get that far. Well I am sorry but in my opinion he should not be allowed to play a semi knowing he cant play in final and I will be extremely surprised if Barry Hearn allows him to do so."I tried to be patient, but it took too long"

yes, i think he has the right to compete untill the final clash, then withdraw, but, then if he wins the semi, it's really a bad image to not show up a a televised final, if this is the case, he's too selfish, and the PL should and probably will punish him severely for breaking the agreement. as a result, it's the best he withdraw before the semis, and let someone else take up his place. this is i beleive what his agents are negotiating with the PL, and so he may get little punishment..

It's on the scrolling marquee on top of the premier league results page. It doesn't elaborate at all but it states the fact:

I assume this means that the fifth player in the league will get promoted into the semi final. I don't think anyone's out for sure yet, looks like it'll be a close struggle for the remaining spot.
