  • Autobiographies

I've read the Ronnie O'Sullivan autobiography 'Ronnie' and it was inspiring. I'd recommend it to anyone with a detailed interest in the game and the top players, as the rocket gives his opinions on other main players in the book.

Have any other pro's released their autobiographies yet?

The Hurricanes isn't. I've always admired Alex Higgins, the book to me is good, you just pick up so much about his life.

Id recommend that one if you dont like it dont shoot the messenger :P

Thats the thing about the snooker players i see on tv. They're portrayed as just that, snooker players. Like they don't have a llife or something. Can't play snooker all day everyday! It wouldn't be beneficial. It'd be nice to know a little about the person behind the cue(without being intrusive of course)

Thanks, I have a look and see if i can pick one up for cheap.

I watched the Alex Higgins documentary last year, told you all about his snooker days, his private life and the time he came back and played Jimmy White in a Charity match, shame I didnt record it.. Long live books at this rate

Hmmm, whatever you do. Don't move to Australia if you can't live without your coverage of snooker on tv.
We're lucky to get last years games on tv, and definitely no way in hell would we get player documentaries

Can I recommend this site for Snazzydevil:

                http://www.abebooks.com/docs/ANZ/?cm...ws*ANZ%20Visit

Just put 'snooker' in the keyword field and it comes up with thousands of second-hand books about snooker, and will list the ones it finds in Australia first. If the link doesn't work, go to abebooks.com or abebooks.co.uk and scroll down to the bottom of the page, where they provide the link to the Australian part of their website.

In fact I recommend abebooks.co.uk for anyone in the uk too. But I can see myself ending up with a lot of cheesy 80s snooker memorabilia so maybe it's not such a good idea after all

Hey thats pretty good. Thanks for that
There's some good prices there. Now I just need to sweet talk the wife into letting me buy some books.

                  Thanks again.

I'd recommend the book about Alex Higgins, and Jimmy White's autobiography as both essential reading. Ronnies book was interesting and I drew many parallels with my own crazy mind but I think he should have waited a few more years before writing it.

Do you have any friends that you trust enough in another country? Then you could have amazon send the books sent to them, and then they could forward them on to yourself?
I'd do it, but who am i? Plus i'm in Australia. Probably be quicker to go via the UK.

the books come up on Ebay quite often.. so worth looking out there and you can usually pay using Pay Pal in your own currency.

I have in my possession an instruction book signed by Jimmy White called Jimmy Whites Snooker Masterclass. Now that must be worth a fair bit!

I've also got the Behind the White Ball book and I must admit it shattered a few illusions. I felt cheated actually, after all the suffering I went through when Hendry kept beating Jimmy at the Crucible and all along it was Jimmys own damn fault that he never won it.
