I worry about him. Yesterday he said that he might pull out if his wife was about to give birth. Frankly, I can't bring myself to believe he could win another World Championship, now that all these young wolves sweep commentators off their feet. If I could believe that, I might believe ( and I would desperately want to believe THAT ) Jimmy White could too... ( Neither can I believe that Stephen Hendry could for that matter. ) We are in Ronnie's era - for as long as it lasts...

I am sorry : I see I have become quite repetitive!!!... I don't know what went wrong. Anyway, I have seen today that John Higgins seems to be back. I am so glad for him. Hopefully, Denise Higgins will wait till Monday... I have watched him attentively because I think what was said here about his way of walking around the table was painfully true. I hope his joy, his love of snooker and his selfconfidence are back.

i saw john play last night & he seemed very relaxed against Hendry (even though he could only manage a top break of 30 in the first 3 frames !
I think it will be higgins/o'sullivan in the final if Mrs Higgins doesn't drop !
When hes in the balls hes a fantastic break builder (Mr maximum at the moment)but seems to lose his nerve playing Ronnie.
He is still in the top 3 for me,& i think he could win the world again.
I wish him & his family good luck with their new bairn !

I couldn't believe my eyes last night when I saw he kicked out Stephen Hendry. Can't tell you how happy I am to see him get his old form back I really like watching John play, and regardless of whether he makes it to the final or not (Murphy is on fire at the moment, it would seem) - or whether Denise can't persuade the baby to stay put for some more - I think he can take a lot of confidence from the British Open. I would love him to get through and give Ronnie a good beating in the final, but if not, no harm done - the UK championship is next, so hopefully he can continue to play well there. Seriously though.... he should time his family plans a bit better in future

Good luck tomorrow John! I really hope he wins in good style. I've met John a number of times and I have to say he's one of the nicest players. In Dublin a few years back he brought his new baby Pierce over to myself and my friend, just so we could have a peep. Truely nice guy...Go John Go!!!!!

Well, he's got me to thank for starting this thread. If I hadn't done it he'd have lost in the first round, but with another 147 behind him

AWESOME ! AWESOME ! AWESOME ! Who knows, Sonny, the good vibrations you emited might have had something to do with it. He would have kicked out Ronnie as well and he will beat Maguire who will not be able to get over today's victory.

Now don't go underestimating Mr Maguire. Ronnie himself said that on current form he's in the top 2 in the world! Slight overstatement but this kid is good make no mistake. Ronnie was outplayed, and it's been a while since that happened.

I don't say he's not good. I say that probably he will not be able to play at his best because of today's adrenaline. These kids are wonderful but somewhat "shortbreathed".

He's 23 - think about how capable Ronnie, Higgins and Hendry were at that age regarding stamina. Trust me, I watched the semi final on Eurosport and the kid played like he expected to win, not like an underdog who got lucky... anyway, I'm sure it'll be a close final and maybe Higgins will just edge it

                              ...told you so !...
Sonny dear, I feel you deserve some congratulations too. Maguire did play well but Higgins played better. I am very, very happy for him.

Yeah, I said Higgins would edge it, and considering the time it took him from 5-5 to win the word edge just about fits!
