Since the last person from beyond the British Isles to win it was a Canadian a quarter of a century ago I don't see the point in rotating it around different countries. It's not an international sport (yet) so we may as well keep it here, and if it is going to be held in the UK it should be held at the Crucible.
If these Chinese players that are coming through start to do the business then there is a case for holding it in China from time to time, and ditto Australia if Quinten or Robertson ever get their acts together, but I don't see the logic of holding it outside the UK if it is mainly British players competing and always a British player that wins.
Exactly, if they (WSA) want to globalise the sport, give the world more tournaments, we're hardly blessed with many as it is.... has there ever been one in the USA? Surely there's one city in America that could pre-sell a venue out.
There's no venue like the Crucible, it holds nearly a thousand which feels a lot more than even a capacity crowd at Wembley... who think that every frame is a chance to either leave or come back to their seats; no build up of pressure anywhere near what's generated by a superglued-to-seat audience at Sheffield where it seems rude to leave... they'll be off for a mid-session or end-of break soon anyway.
They need to concentrate on getting some high quality sponsors with longevity rather than rocking the foundations; but then again it's a bit of a dead rubber as it's not moving from S1 1DA anyway. I'd love to read the WSA's chief exec 'mission statement' if anyone's got a url to post.
The BilliardDrome should be an exceptional viewing arena for Snooker too.
Head Still...Follow Through...Keep it Tight...Never Give Up...Ton 'em if you can!
Talking of the World Championship, does anyone have any news regarding who the new sponsors may be? Hopefully not someone like Coca Cola! That would be horrible...
Hi Paul, no news at the mo... when Ronnie was spouting and 5Live had Sir (hot) Rod Walker (not!) commenting, he just whittled on about how Ron was at best 'ill-informed'... but that the WSA was 'just about to announce some exciting things' but he didn't put any flesh on the bones or say exactly WHEN this announcement was due.... nothing's been heard since; great. Wonder who could be a good sponsor?

Keep it at the crucible for now. Well see if a new venue comes in the future that is dedicated to cuesports, I remmeber that a billiardrone or something was being built?
Ron, meant to post this link ages ago.... or maybe I was gonna put some more pictures up and then when I didn't do it straight away, it slipped. (I'll cut down on my procrastination tomorrow)
Playing the World Championship around the world will be great. People around the world will be able to watch their favourite players live. In some countries snooker is not as popular as it is in England. It would be great to have it around the world.
