Well done Steve Davis for a gritty performance today, although I don't think Paul Hunter played very well at all.
By the way, did anyone watching on BBCi catch Dennis Taylor's foot-in-mouth moment between frames?
Reffering to a giant polystyrene replica of the Masters' trophy, he quipped to Willie Thorne,
"Have you ever seen a bigger set of balls than that?".
They had to cut the sound for about 2 minutes while the two of them recovered from an attack of schoolboy giggles!
            Classic!

I'm glad Dotty won, I hope he wins it if Williams doesn't.

Hands up who thought Hunter looked a tit in the bandana

                  * Nicely and oh so adequately put !!!...

                  * The Sunday Mail” suggested a title : 'DOTT FACING MAG-NUM FORCE'. We find out how DOTT first saw MAGUIRE when Stephen was only 11 ani and how it was clear that he would become an ace. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it ?!... "I remember Stephen as a youngster playing at Reardon's snooker club in Glasgow and you could tell he was going to be good. He was probably the only junior I'd seen who refused to go for pots all the time. He would constantly play safe if he felt it was needed - he had a cool head on young shoulders. I'm looking forward to facing Stephen. The winner plays Ronnie in the next round and he knows what we're capable of...” But Dotty still feels frustrated for not having any title under his belt : "No matter how high I go in the rankings, people will say I've still not won a tournament.”

So he is to face RONNIE. Again. "It does not get much better than playing Ronnie at Wembley, But I do not think what happened in Malta will have any bearing on our game on Tuesday. I felt a bit flat before the match ( cel cu Maguire ) because I have probably only done half an hour's practice since getting back from Malta. But then I played well from the start. Hopefully I can play like that against Ronnie. A few years ago I used to have an inferiority complex when I played the top guys. I thought I would have to play really well and them not to be at their best. But now I know I can beat them even if they are on form."

                  * MAGUIRE had this to say : "It is the best arena I have ever played in. And it would have been fantastic to play Ronnie when it was jam-packed. But I will be back next year." I bet he will.

                  * "It keeps happening time and again. The way things are going it's got to be my year for the world title", said PAUL HUNTER. The bandana ? "I've worn it in practice and so I thought I would give it a try. It keeps the hair out of my eyes, if nothing else." OK. But I keep wondering : if he admits that he is having such a bad season, that he has got used to be sent home after the first match, is the hope/project of winning the world title a logical conclusion ? I mean, really...

                  * STEVE DAVIS seems to have liked it ( the bandana ) : "I thought he looked okey. At least I knew his name is Paul Hunter”, he said, making fun of the name change of we know who. And had this to add concerning his own game : "I've been playing well in practice and there were signs in Malta things were coming together. That's certainly the best I've played for a while. I got off to a good start, made a couple of good breaks and suddenly everything I'd been doing in practice started to come off on the match table." Then he mentioned his father, Bill Davis' help : "He reckoned I've been standing differently at the table than I used to. I didn't really believe him but he showed me a book from 1981 that proved him right. I just thought why not give it a go, I don't care. I've also been going down to the gym to try and keep fit. As I've got older that part of me was starting to fall to pieces."

                  * So JIMMY will remain ... White after all - World Snooker have decided that "Jimmy White entered the Masters by that name and will continue to be known by that name during the tournament. He is referred to as Jimmy White in the event's promotional literature. He will be announced into the arena by that name and will be called Jimmy White by referees and television commentators. The name Jimmy Brown will only be used in relation to the promotional activities with HP, sponsors of the brown ball during the tournament." Steve Davis thinks that "While most players are known by their surname, whether it be Davis, Hendry or Higgins, we all know Jimmy White as Jimmy. So, there will be no need to call him Brown. All his fans usually shout out `Come on the Wind' anyway because of his Whirlwind nickname.” So no problem. Will Jimmy go on strike ?...

Stevens v White/Brown. That has to be one of the best matches I've seen in a long time! Go Mr Brown. Jimmy played a blinder. I'm so pleased for him. Needing two snookers to stay in the match he managed to get them and win the last 3 frames. I feel for Matthew though. If you haven't got interactive and didn't manage to see the end of the match it's well worth waiting up for the highlights tonight!

                              Hehe... Of course...

Damn, Jimmy White played well against Matthew Stevens. Well, why has White changed his name to Brown? I didn't get that... The Danish commentator didn't really know it either...

Mirocri: You said something about this HB sauce, but what was that?
