  • Jimmy v Joyce now underway. 1-0 to Jimmy at the moment with Joyce first in on 42.

    Update:
Any other Jimmy fans in the house

He's struggling against Joyce, trailing 2-3 with Joyce now in leading 24-0. Robertson managed to beat Milkins 4-1 though so even if White loses here he's in with a decent shout.

    • 3-2 Joyce - It would do Jimmy's chances a whole world of good to get these two frames - Joyce is right behind him.

      • Its great that Jimmy was able to get through some much needed tough matches but with all these 4-3's he could end up going out because of this. Again the arguement will probably be brought up asking if frame difference is the best way to determine positions rather than head to heads.

But it hasn't happened. Joyce wins 4-2 to leapfrog Milkins and White into a provisional qualification spot.

Alex Davies is doing well against Mark Davis. A win for Alex would help Jimmy as a qualifying spot would be bound to open up when Davis plays Joyce tomorrow.

White and Milkins will both be hoping to defeat their next opponents heavily, Jimmy has the advantageous head to head should they both win by equal margins.

Update: Bottom-of-the-group Alex Davies has indeed managed to pip group leader Davis, here's the updated table:

          Name . . . . P/W/FD Still to play
          Davis,M. . . 6 4 9 Joyce
          Joyce. . . . 6 4 9 Davis
          Milkins. . . 6 4 2 Saenla
          White,J. . . 6 4 2 Robertson
          Robertson,J. 6 2 -1 White
          MacKenzie. . 6 2 -4 Davies
          Saenla . . . 6 2 -6 Milkins
          Davies,A . . 6 2 -11 MacKenzie

          Here's the equation then:

Davis plays Joyce tomorrow, the winner will top the group. The loser won't qualify unless Milkins and White both lose.

If one of Milkins or White wins (versus Supoj and Robertson respectively), that one will qualify.

If both Milkins and White win then the one who wins by a bigger margin will qualify and the other won't. If it's tied, White goes through on head to head.

              • So I guess White is out now?

Davis and Joyce at +9 and White at +2. He can only still progress if Davis or Joyce lose their next match 4-0 and White wins his 4-1, or the other way around. And Milkins can't do better. What a crappy situation!

that doesn't sound right one of Joyce or Davis has to lose (they play each other), so will be at 7 (4), therefore passed by Jimmy if he wins his match either way.

                  • Ah, they play eachother? I didn't realise that. So if he wins, and Milkins doesn't win with a larger margin, he is still through?
