  • Pot Black - Bad Editing

Well watching the four quarter finals were a bit pointless when it was obvious every time who was going to win. Before each match they featured mainly on one player and low and behold that player lost. I highly doubt it was coincedence but after a while it was inevitable when they didn't show anything of Doherty before his game with Higgins.

Alex, was that recorded broadcasting? (having no television... I have no idea, did not check anything). You are not suggesting the whole thing was "pre-arranged", I reckon?

The quarter finals were pre recorded and thus focused more on the players that would go on and lose because they could focus more on the winners later on in the day.

Exactly, was announced as live, which it was not and obvious who would win. What a kindergarten!

There was a huge lunch break between Qs and the rest of it. Apparently bbc didn't find it appropriate to show 1,5 hours of peeps consuming food

My newspaper today said the quarter finals were due to begin at 10.45am.

They could have started about 12.30 and would have had plenty of time to play 7 frames by about 4.00 and so the BBC could have have shown everything live. Maybe next year!

yeh every tournament we always have this topic.. as i woke up late im not sure if bbc had the quarters finals live on interactive.. we always seem to know who will win the frame with the beeb tho.. overall i really love watching their coverage and this in an area which they could improve on.

Im sure tho they could have showed 7 frames of snooker live on tv. Saturday of sport on bbc 1 no problem!

                  Apart from the bad editing:
Is it really that important to have everything live? This is more like a social event than anything else and I guess it is more relaxing for the players to play some frames, then have a lunch break and start again afterwards.

Hi Ja, you looked rather nice as player backdrop...

Think Eurosport in the evening was OK, but then it was probably more condensed. So, the most relaxed player won in the end (quite liked his quibs).

I did notice the sudden increase in bottles on the tables once the SFs kicked off, so I suspected as much. Oh, well. It was just Pot Black.

Quite silly of the BBC to pretend that it was live, though.

I realised it wasnt live when the bookmakers were only betting on the event up to 10.45am.. My guess is they must of started about 11am
