  • ROS v FU (GP 2007)

    who is the winner then?

will ROS batter Fu with high breaks and one visit snooker?

will Fu bog ROS down, or raise his game to that played V Higgy this week?

  • #2
From what we have seen in the semi finals - and earlier this week - Marco Fu is capable of winning this tounament. OSullivan - not at the top of his game yet - is slightly the favorite but it coud go both ways.
Unless ROS is showing some good form as in the Masters this year...
I saw that going differently in my mind

Hold your horses , he hasnt won it yet . The title might be for the "pride of Essex" .
Considering Ronnie's not at the top of his game i honestly had my doubts about him beating Murphy in the semifinal , but after yday , i see him as a favorite in spite of all the "lacks/flaws" in his game atm. Will be a tight match imo and no matter who's goin to win i hope we'll have a final at least as thrilling as the semis were .

BTW , the final is to start at 2:30 BST ?

I think it's going to be a close one, too. O'Sullivan has the slight advantage of a few more hours of rest, while Fu ended his semi late at night. Although I think Ronnie's match may have been just as consuming.
Fu's safety game is top drawer. O'Sullivan's on a roll.
            Tough one.
            Very tough.
And I'd love to see Ronnie win. (Surprise, eh? )
Good thing they play only 7 frames in the afternoon session. There may be some long ones in there.

              Or maybe studavis' thingy?

BBC will have it on straight away, thankfully.

Back on topic though, I'm gunning for Fu here. He's been in a Grand Prix final before, and I hope he can better his performance then this year. I've mentioned before, this match could depend on which Ronnie turns up, though even a "50% Ronnie" can win this. Marco won't go down without a fight, though, regardless.

Today will be a good day of sport, too, as my eyes will be firmly fixed on a different Grand Prix in between sessions.

It will be exciting to see. Often with Ronnie there is no middle ground; he either plays one visit high break stuff, or is completely off his game. Matches like yesterdays against Murphy are a pretty rare exception to see him missing a few frame balls and failing to kill of frames quickly. This is not something he generally has trouble with.

Ronnie really should be a pretty safe bet for this final, though I'm sure he wont be taking anything for granted. However, I hope Marco will be playing well (but not too well ) and makes a good match of it.

                    Handball, I think.

                    Which does look quite fun.

of the 2, ROS is capable of steamrollering Fu, but wouldnt say Fu is capable of stemrollering ROS (often) , unless ROS has an off day, so i tend to agree with the comment about it perhaps depending how ROS plays

I think it will be a final frame shoot out as both players have pressure on them to win today. O'Sullivan obviously has a lot more as he hasn't won a ranking event for 31 months and will be favourite. Fu for me has been the best player in the tournament despite losing a match earlier and he has knocked out John Higgins playing close to his best so he will surely fancy his chances.

On a side note the way the season is going a player who hasn't won or done anything significant for 8 years will do well in the Northern Ireland Trophy.

Ronnie misses his first attempted long pot and lets Marco in - who is currently enjoying a break of 36. The reds are quite open and the black is available. Looking good for Marco now!

And on my ear I have Lynne Dawson as a soloist in the Messiah. By my side a cup of Chai tea and aaaah. I love Sundays
