ha. just wanted to say that as well about Jimmy! Stevens may even get his chance now! hes out of the top 16 by a long shot.

Immaculate display by Fu, worthy winner.

With Marco AND Dale in Shanghai winning from outside of the top 16, Jimmy'll probably get his hands on the World's next year! (I'm not joking though, he's been playing well in practice.)

Great match and a very, very worthy winner! CONGRATUALTIONS MARCO! This is good for snooker.

Didn't like O'Sullivan to leave the arena before Fu was interviewed, that's bad manners, IMO.

Oh well, next tourney I'll be watching live. I can't wait!

10 years without success for Dale and he wins
9 years without success for Fu and he wins
8 years without success for O'Brien and he wins???

Also Fu winning was a nice little earner for me too

25 years without success (his only win), he might pick up a cue again!

In snooker a failure and in dancing! I bet in 10 years time he tell everyone he won it!

I'm sure he's done more than 200 perfect pirouettes in practise though!

On a more serious note, I can't help feel a bit sorry for O'Sullivan. I wonder when (if) he'll ever win another ranking title again. This week he looked like he wanted to win more badly than I've seen him for years and still... so close, yet so far away.

                    • well done Marco Fu! i'm a huge Ronnie fan and expected him to walk away with the title but i'm just as pleased for Marco.

Being Chinese, i always ask my granddad (who's followed snooker for longer than i've been alive!) who he wants to win when a Chinese player is playing. his response is always 'it doesn't matter to me, as i have no part in it'. the great fan of snooker he is, tonight was the first time i've seen him smile, applaud and enjoy a players victory. well done Marco!

I'm sure i'd see the same response from him again if Jimmy was to ever lift the World title!

Of course he will - look whats happening at the moment with your Dales and Fus. If they can have runs when everything goes right, then someone like Ronnie will definately get one sooner or later. Hope it doesnt take 9 or 10 years though.

Well done to Fu on winning though - he kept a very cool head and played great. Sadly Ronnie lost his way during parts of that match. If he had potted that missed yellow and equalised at 7-7 instead of allowing Fu to clear it might have been a different story.

... but he wasnt that confident he can do it . Maybe the semifinal won against Murphy boosted his confidence a lil but not enough. To me Ronnie looked 'changed' this tournament : bit calmer , took his time with the shots (over 1 min for a shot - happened during the match with Shaun- its smth new when it comes to Ronnie), maybe didnt risk as much as he used to ..dunno but to me it was a whole new attitude, which i liked somehow, but i know its not an attitude that characterizes Ronnie in general. Ronnie is volcanic most of the times , and when he knows he can rely on his game 100% as it is working good, according to his standards , Ronnie is buzzin', shows more confidence, puts pressure on his opponent , tends to dominate the match. Its not what happened last night and in none of the nights this week.
To me, he was happy(eager) to get outa there once the match was over , and even if it is a great result to get in the final of the first ranking he plays in this season , the disappointment that he didnt play the way he would have loved to ,prevailed .
I dont doubt he'll win a tournament again , hope it will be sometime soon, it would help a lot to gain some (more) confidence in himself.

Well deserved congrats for Marco!!! The best i saw him playing in a long time . He made a great tournament and is a great achievement after 9 years in the circuit.

He actually played the shot with his right hand, over streched. Just watched it on youtube. Great source for snooker clips.

                            • Fu was simply awesome, you watch a display like that and it's hard to believe he hasn't won a tourney until now. He just didn't look like missing!

Snooker is certainly exciting right now, no-one has dominated for a long time now and this is the 6th ranker in a row which has featured a player outside the top 16 - it is so unpredictable.

Right... well, he should've potted it either way.
