  • Patrick Wallace and Lee Walkers ranking points...

I was over at the worldsnooker.com provisional rankings just to check out who had achieved the most points so far this season. Top scorers were such as Maguire, Fu and Dale which seemed right, but then I scrolled down the list and found two for me unknown player,Patrick Wallace and Lee Walker, who both had more than 8000 points and who both scored 6050 in the shanghai masters, a tournament in which none of them managed to even reach the first round. How is this possible?

just checked, Leo Fernandez also got 6050 points for Shanghai Masters: http://www.worldsnooker.com/players_...gs(1)-8211.htm

Lots of other low ranked players have got pretty many points for it as well. Probably they are just put in there, but are for something else (all those players have 0 points last season - could it be they entered main tour only at the start of this season?)

I was thinking about that aswell, that players who are new get "starting points" but I don't know. Maybe it's just a typo.

It's their starting points plus Shanghai points. Worry not. All is correct...

Aha, so they do get starting points? But hasn't at least one of them been around for at least a couple of seasons?

Yes, they fell off the main tour but got back onto it, so were awarded starter points to give them a boost.

this looks like a blip on the wsa database - those points shown for Shanghai are actually the starter points added to the points achieved in the event

in the case of Patrick he had 5400 starter points and 650 points for winning one round in shanghai masters

                  see rankings on GCS!!!!
