  • 2008/2009 Calendar

First event of the season has been set now. It will apparently be the Northern Ireland Trophy that moves back to it's original time slot in late august. Not very surprising since the Shanghai Masters for obvious reasons couldn't be held the same time as last year.

Also good news for me personally, since my uni term won't start before 1st september, so will proably be another Belfast week for me, this time hopefully somewhat warmer!

According to Snooker Scene it will be held August 24-31, thus clashing with the Paul Hunter Classic held in Furth, Germany from August 28-31. That's a big shame.

Edit: Oh, forgot to add. Anyone got any news (particulary dates, venues and such) regarding the calendar of next season please post them in this thread.

Shouldn't we wait for the official calendar instead of speculating and hunting for rumours?

I think there are a few dates on GSC but obviously with events changing around it may not be accurate. Also will Shanghai Masters also be held in August, if so it could be a very early start again.

Lol, not even WSA would be stupid enough to stage a tournament in China during the Olympics (I hope! )

(Dont worry I'm not going to come after you if they change the dates )

I assume they are pretty confirmed, as these are the ones WSA has "released" publicly so far. But then they shortened the UK this year, so you never know.

With the Grand Prix qualifiers only lasting four days it looks like the round robins have been scratched.

                            Hi hege,

Where have these been publicly released? World snooker website or somewhere else?

                            Thanks

I haven't seen these dates released either but I'm liking them so far.
Is the UK in Telford again this year?

I am delighted that the Northern Ireland trophy is back in its original slot - although I wouldn't hold my breath for the warmer weather Hege!!
In saying that 2 years ago the weather was beautiful for the event. Not that it could be much colder than it was in November!

I'll be in China at the same time as the Shanghai Masters but unfortunately won't be attending, which is a shame. Had it been a week later I could've made it
Is it really running Wednesday to Tuesday? Seems odd days to start and finish. Is that to fit in with the Grand Prix????
