  • Wildcards ..

    http://snookerscene.blogspot.com/

Dave H has launched the usual debate about wildcards ...

I'd go for Liu Chuang also.
Regarding Michael White I'm not sure he should get one. Surely he's a promising young lad. But this year there was a lot of expectations about him and he did not cope so well. Maybe too much pressure for a boy who is still immature (and that's only normal). If he gets a wildcard that pressure - to prove he deserved it - might be even stronger. While spending a year maybe far from the limelights and getting experience before coming back might help him more efficiently in the long term.

For me theres no question who should get it Liu Chaung.......

no point giving it to Drago and Henry they are efectively jerneymen pros now..... Liu Chaung is a promising teenager that should be encouraged and Also Rewarded for his Run to the Crucible.....

michael White i feel has proved himself slightly out of his depth and should return to the PIOS and give it another go with maturity....if hes good enough he will be back in the next 2 years and cope better with it after the Experiance he would have gained.....

for the season 2008/2009 it says that Drew Henry is on rank 70 so on that list he will play next season, I'm confused

i really doubt it that he is on there i think its a mistake that list you shown should comprise of the top 64 plus the top 8 thats not in the top 64 on the 1 year list but that has the top 64 + 9 theres 1 player 2 many there and looking at this list http://www.globalsnookercentre.co.uk...year-ranks.htm its Drew Henry ....even Joe Jogia is ahead of him on the list..........

Tian Pengfei simply has to get it. If he had recieved the 200 points for 1st round losers in the Shanghai Masters he would still be on the tour.

Drew Henry has not resigned his WPBSA membership therefore he will still appear on the ranking list a bit like James Tatton and Hugh Abernethy. As a member he will still be able to play in World Championships next year.

fair point Alex but what has Tian Pengfei Really Done........but really World Championship aside what has Liu Chaung done.......

it does feel a bit unfair on Tian not being Awarded thoes points...im concerned about this now ....the WSA is not known for a desisive and straight forward desitionmaking they dither lol....we could be at the UK Championship and they stil had not desided hahaha

Tian Pingfei has advanced from four out of six tournaments he was in. ThatĀ“s better than the statistics of Stephen Lee, Steve Davis and the former world champion John Higgins to name a few. And I vote for Liu Chang as well.

Liu Chuang has received a wildcard for the main tour

I think this was the right decision..anyone think different?

Seems like a good decison to me too. No arguments here.

Yes, Chuang was favourite to get a wildcard. Rumours say that the second one will be decided between Leo Fernandez and Tony Drago, but we will see..

Rumours also say that the decision will be announced after the 10th of June.

There could be a few more wildcards as main tour places may not neccessarily be given to winners or nominations from each NGB. Liu Chuang was only on the tour last year because they didn't give Vincent Muldoon his main tour spot despite being nominated for the European Championship place.

Also Stefan Mazrocis will be back on the tour (unless the above happens) after winning the European Playoff.

A good decision. He beat Ebdon this week, so heĀ“ll be able to compete.
