CueSport TV to Broadcast 2008 Austrian Snooker Open Live
Online broadcasters CueSport TV have announced that they will be offering live pay-per-view coverage of the 2008 Austria Snooker Open.
The Austrian Open is into its 13th year and is one of Europe’s largest Pro-Am snooker tournaments with 128 entries and an 8000 Euro first prize. Although the majority of the field is made up of high level amateur snooker players from across the whole of Europe more and more professional players are making the trip to the city of Wels where the tournament takes place.
This year’s event features the likes of Ryan Day, Jamie Cope, Peter Ebdon, Dominic Dale, Stephen Lee, Michael Holt, Neil Robertson, Jimmy Michie and more.
It is also fitting that this year’s Austrian Open sits just before the IBSF World Amateur Snooker Championships. This will give many of the amateur players some quality match practice before embarking on a gruelling title challenge.
Pete Williams, Managing Director of CueSport TV said, “Live Snooker has always been a big part of our channels development plan and the addition of the Austrian Open is great for our viewers and shows that CueSport TV is moving in the right direction. It also allows other territories like Australia and Canada to watch live snooker, something they do not normally get”
CueSport TV’s first venture into live Snooker came at last months Belgium Open, an event that was won by Shanghai Masters champion Ricky Walden.
The Austrian Open takes place over the 24th-26th October 2008 and pay-per-view tickets can be purchased now for just £4.95 for the full three days.
