  • Record Betfred Premier League

Could someone please record both days; saturday 3rd and the final sunday 4th?

    Here's the schedule:
    December 3
    Stephen Hendry v Ding Jun-hui (Semi-Final)
    Ronnie O'Sullivan v Steve Davis (Semi-Final)

    December 4
The Final: (Hopefully O'Sullivan) v (My guess - Stephen Hendry)

It starts at 7pm both days.

Lucky Germans & Taiwanese gettin it gratis eh Quewer! JayJay'll be pleased.

Getting the xls fired up, the maximum viewing figures for the highlights package if everyone was to watch; shame on those that won't.... would be a staggering

    1,017,151,844 - over a billion people.

(based on 3.5 people at home and 30 people in pubs watching)

IF we assume Ron makes the final, I think Henders has got a reasonable chance of getting there and winning too, seeing as he'll be very focussed and motivated especially with the UK starting Monday (not Sunday then Dave!)

Had a look at the betting and gave up! Back, Lay, decimal odds etc, I'll learn about all that another time... all I wanted was fractional outright winner table, hint hint!

    Found em...
    O'Sullivan 1/2
    Hendry 11/4
    Ding 6/1
    Davis 20/1

Semi's best of 9 & Final first to 6. MICC Manchest, $50k to the Winner.

Head Still... Follow Through... Keep it Tight... Never Give Up... Ton 'em if you can!

There's some that don't know about the minimum character.

Anyway the game's afoot, Ding's in - should be a good battle even though Ding's 62nd in the world; they've not mentioned whether there's an interval yet. Sell-out is good, there were a few venues with empty seats, some seemed to only come for the first match too.

Well done to Ron for an inspired performance; 4 centuries and an 85 for his win over Stevo yesterday.

As a point for the Ref to look at; Ronnie actually allowed the Shot Clock to run down on 3 occasions in his match; twice in succession and then another very soon afterwards. At the time it was all very confusing but Clive Everton seemed to put his finger on it; it looked like Ron had done it on purpose to preserve his Time-Outs (gagging for some choc bar sponsorship), but in the BetFred rules, this was a foul as it's interpreted as ungentlemanly conduct because, "No player will be allowed to commit and intentional foul...in order to...buy himself more thinking time. Under such circumstances the referee has the ultimate sanction and will deem any such action unfair conduct." AND "The Referee is given the power of awarding the frame against an offender if the need arises. If a player does not play or appear in the spirit of these rules the referee shall consider it unfair conduct and take the necessary action."

So last night, Mr.Collier could have threatened Ronnie with losing the frame then the match; tasty action eh? Will he do the same today?

(watch out for the next thing... a blatant intentional foul escaping from a snooker and not getting within a country mile, but because 'snookers are required', the Ref can't call a miss and no advantage given away. Also, don't forget that the coverage is copyright protected; permission is required before sharing of footage is approved... email away)

Ronnie lands the title again; 3 frames lost in two visits to the Manchester venue over 2 finals and 2 semi's.... some record.

(another point of order chairman; the shot clock controller needs some training: if the ref is deciding whether it's a touching ball or not, the clock should not be counting down... lucky enough the times I noticed it happening was on Ronnie's shot and he was using the 'staring time' as part of his shot selection. Also, if there's an obvious 'kick', the clock should stop while the Ref cleans the white - many-a-time it's the player who initiates the request which seems to give the Ref the direction that it's not his choice to stop the clock, as it's a player request and not from the ref; that would stop the clock)

As for next year, who'll be included in the League? Will it remain at 7? What about John Higgins now he's up to provisional third? Can the old gun slingers keep their spot?

The owner of BetFred... ... Fred Done, Mr."BetFred"...

... said, when interviewed by the match table, he's got 1 more year on Sponsoring the event and he's very eager to continue after that, he'll be in contract talks with Barry Hearn to assure this... good news indeed.

Seems odd that BetFred are willing to dish out over £80,000 to one person and buckets more to everyone else involved, but the WSA struggle for their Ranking Events. Maybe the contract negotiators at Sky could give WorldSnooker some 'training'; there are many companies out there who're gagging for some exposure.
