i've been to the uk before and now i want to go back to watch the worlds. im not a threat to uk security, why do i have to collect all the papers again to get a visa. just let me in ffs.

but seriously regarding this jimmy issue it wasent as if he left china for a month or 2 then wanted to return...

its just creating work without any need not to mention forms after forms that needs filling out.

Something is a bit odd here. When you get a visa to enter a country, it is clearly indicated the length of the visa, how much time you can stay on the soil. When Jimmy got his to go to his first event, he should have noticed there was an issue with that, don't you think?

I've heard of visas (to Russia I think) which have limits on both length of time spent and number of entries to a country, for example, a 1-month visa allowing only one entry to a country - if you leave once you cannot enter again even if that 1 month is still not over.

So you just never know what funny things could be written in small letters in some corner.

Still yes it is odd, it's not the first time Jimmy is going to China, (he or whoever arranging it) should know how to obtain the right visa.
More likely some weird unexpected bureaucratic misunderstanding... pitty "snooker in China" is suffering from it... somebody should make the right call to the right place , pitty it's sunday, a day-off and such short time before the match.

tut-tut, a visa is not a place for very very small letters. expirity date, visa type and the number of entries are written in big big letters in the middle of it, i know what im talking about, im half way through my second travel passport

I am still looking into the situation but from what I can gather at present, this is the situation:

Jimmy was working in China a couple of weeks ago at an exhibition event. When he applied for his visa for this work, he explained that he needed a visa for this earlier event and for the China Open. This was granted and he went to China as planned. He has since been in Thailand and was due to fly from Thailand to China in time for his match on Monday. He went to the airport in Bangkok to board his flight to China and was told there was a problem with his visa and he was not allowed onto his flight to China. As you can imagine, Jimmy is devastated and more than a little annoyed! After such a great season this is a terrible way for it to end for him. Please be assured that Jimmy was 100% intending on playing in the China Open and no-one is more disappointed than him that he will not be able to do that.

That is as much as I know at the moment until I speak with the company that issued the visa tomorrow during their opening hours.

Thanks for this explanation. Like Joneseye said, the worlds going mad, especially China. They have very limited internet access as well, don't they? It's about time people started standing up and refusing to go. Don't have any events there. Let them live in their own bubble. That said, it's unfair on the genuine Chinese people who don't want to live under such a dictatorship.

So well done to all the nutjobs involved in this sad, pathetic bureaucracy. Nice one. You have just ruined the tournament for a number of fans and especially the young lad that was playing Jimmy White.

sorry but you cant really blame customs etc for doing their job, they probably get their backsides kicked if they got caught out eh?

seems to be a bit of a cock-up on jimmy's or his management part if you ask me.

yes nothing to do with the man in the job but come on there has to be some sort of common sense aplied to visa issues like this its just been bonkers in snooker the last 2 or 3 years with visa's...

they can hand out visas like confettie but you have to aply all the time

suerly when you a regular traveler like jimmy is in to a country there has to be a better system than this.

apply every 2 years or something but for every visit just seems a lot of paperwork for no reason with a regular like Jimmy or other top players like Stephen Hendry that does quite a bit over in china.
