  • Wildcards for China Open announced!

    The eight wildcards are as follows:

    Zhang An'Da
    Liu Hang
    Li Yuan
    Cao Xinlong *
    Ah Bulajiang *
    Yang Qingtian*
    Jin Long *
    Yu Delu *

    * was awarded a wildcard at the Shanghai Masters

        Hm, these names seems famliar, but why? Did they have wildcards at the one of the Asian tournaments before?

          Yes, Cao Xinlong, Ah Bulajiang, Yang Qingtian, Jin Long and Yu Delu were all awarded a wildcard at the Shanghai Masters.

            I didn't recognize the others... The longer a foreign name, the more difficult to remember it seems

                  Why do only Chinese players get wildcards? I seem to recall some of these guys went to the UK to play in the China Open qualifiers in Jan and they lost. Just seem a bit strange that they are still able to play.

                    I think some of those were on last year's China Open too. But Zhang An'Da is something new!

                      You recall wrongly my friend. None of the eight wildcards are on the Main Tour.

                        If I recall correctly, Jin Long had been on the main tour even before Ding.

                          Yes, he joined in 02/03 season I think. He dropped out after the 05/06 season though.

                            He's not completely unknown as he was runner-up in last years U21 World Championship.

                            He also made quite a few 50+ breaks, so he'll be a tough opponent for anyone I think.

                              Yu Delu usually wins his wildcard match and was unlucky not to be on the tour this year instead of Liu Chuang.
