don't mind a season revolving around selby, the rest is arguable though ^^
we'll see how the season ends, I'm quite curious for the crucible already, eventhough I'll totally miss the first round due to being on holidays with mum and friends who will certainly kill me if they find me only CLOSE to a tv or pc during that time

My lucky dip man Day is through and Selby looks the man of the season. Is it going to be his 3rd tournament win in 2008!
As I said before Day will reach the final. Everytime he beats Stevens he ends up runner up. (Both finals have also been abroad)

      • I like how everyone is saying the bottom half of WC draw is the easiest despite having Selby, Maguire, Murphy in it. Its time to go on form and not names.

I'd so love to see a selby-day final.
and I'm pretty happy that both guys' matches are broadcasted tomorrow. so I'll now leave to bed to be wide awake tomorrow morning when it's snookertime

          • Ever since watching Day live at the Masters I am a converted Ryan Day fan. He does bottle the big occassions (2004 WC 1st round, 2006 WC 2nd round, 2007 Shanghai Final) but he comes accross as top bloke in the videos and interviews I have seen. A stupid thing I know but if I could swap with any player and have a go from their position it would be Ryan's.

            • I've no clue how I ended up liking him actually, it just came naturally. I simply like to watch him, how he behaves around a table, how he plays. and I think he's still up for something great. one day. I know it. go ryan.

It's the same for me I "discovered" him at the Welsh Open 2 years ago (or was it 3 years ?) and liked him right away. There is something special about him. I hope he will proceed up the rankings in the next years.
To be honest, I'd prefer a Higgins - Day final

I hate this schedule, I haven't seen a SINGLE match yet, as I have some guests in my lab atm and can't watch during working hours....

And a very tiresome virtual battle over Ronnie yesterday

I have seen only matches on monday since it was a holiday here. And haven't even been able to check torrents to see if there is something from the tournament uploaded

                      edit:

Bond 0-4 Maguire (oh Nigel )
                      Williams 1-3 Day

                      • I must say that I've been very disappointed with the coverage of the China Open. I've much enjoyed the streams on the Eurosport website during earlier tournaments, being available the whole day through. Here, though, the first round of matches start broadcasting at 8.30 my time, which today was mere minutes before the four first frames had been played in both matches. Both matches are also rather one-sided affairs, so I suspect I won't be able to see much at all.

I'm chuffed about the scores at the minute, but rather miffed that hardly anything is being shown on telly or streamed

@April: The torrents are there, just waiting for you

                        • Thanks, Maija, will check them tonight (hopefully)

Well, I tried to watch cctv5 via TVU web player (cos I am so lazy installing the player on my comp, and last time when I tried it didn't work anyway) on Monday, just because they start showing the match from the very start, and it was ok. If Eurosport plans to show it an hour later tomorrow and on Sunday too, I guess chinese tv for me again...

Duh. Why didn't I think of that? *headpalm*

Looks like Williams is taking the first frame after the break, and the possibility is certainly there that Mags will go through with a 5-0 win

                            Edits:
Indeed Williams took the frame with a 108-break. 3-2 to Day, then.
Maguire did indeed take the fifth frame as well, so Maguire v Bond 5-0

wow. stephen really wanted to finnish early today huh... poor nigel.
now as much as I like williams, I hope he doesn't go all over ryan and kicks him out ... blame me for being biased, can't help it.

for the comment made on the ronnie discussion from yesterday... I rather don't look at it, would just get me all mad again.

                              • Really good to see Nigel getting as far as he did, though.

I can see a Murphy Maguire final coming up with Maguire taking the title.

Murphy has a bad track record against Maguire.
