  • I wonder if Steve will quit after this season. I don't think he would do too well in the qualifiers.

    • No better place than Sheffield.

      • King is very close now to securing a Top 16 place for next season. I told many people earlier in the season not to write off the Romford Godfather and alas, he isn't disappointing anyone

        • Graeme Dott has now failed to win his last 15 matches, the worst run of his professional career. Dott said "I don't know what's the matter with me, I'm just playing terrible at the moment," "I'm still practising hard, but I can't get my head around it at the moment. It's difficult to take.

"For some reason I was just very bad. I wasn't tired, I just played rubbish. You are disappointed when you lose any game. I know I need to play better, especially at the World Championship (next month)."

Apart from all the Jimmy and Nugget fans that is.

King has an outside chance to return to the 16 as he will have picked up quite a few points already for China and the worlds even if he doesnt get any further. He may not get any further though as he will probably have to play Higgins next in China and Selby in Sheffiled. Matches hes not too likely to win.

Personally id prefer to see the place go to some new blood like Cope or Allen. They will all be in the running for the spot as will Swail, and Doherty too will be desperate to re-gain his place that he has provisionally lost.

No shame to lose against Day though. Good player
Day looks set for the final now. The previous two wins he has had against Stevens came in Malta and Shanghai and both times he reached the final.

                • It is nice to see Barry playing well again. I have been disappointed with his season overall but I think winning the world qualifier against Hicks was a great tonic for him. I would like him to vanquish Maguire in the 16 round and then he could go all the way. I know beating Hendry isn't as meaningful as it once was but Barry outplayed Stephen and Stephen acknowledged Barry's performance. Stephen has always been generous in defeat when losing to Barry as he knows how much class the guy has. I think Hendry will struggle in Sheffield against Allen and I expect the young lad to beat Stephen there.

                      • seems to me that in the last 3-4 tournaments Higgins has started to play faster...much faster then we know it...and he always seems to rush things lately..i hope he will get his old style back 'cuz else i don't see him doing a good World Championship this year

                        • Williams and Campbell were faster though. They belted 4 frames within the hour!

                          • They truly rushed the job ... 5-1 Williams winning

And now another 5-1 Ebdon vs Cope was not expecting that after Ebdon's recent rather poor performances.

                            • Well done Williams, show us some form

But oh my god, this match Higgins vs Swail has been really really scrappy. Both players missing so many easy shots and no better than average breaks so far.
