It sounds crazy to not like Ebdon´s style of play and have Selby as your favourite...
I know and I haven't yet been able to define what it is that makes the difference. I've found myself thinking the same. if I ever manage to pin down the thing that makes the big difference, I'll let you know

I wonder if Murphy will stumble again at the semis as he has done numerous times this season. Still great achievement.
yeah, that would be interesting match, because murphy has hardly passed 1. and 2. round, and finaly today he showed good game... at the other side selby is so confident in himself and it would be very hard to stop him
admittedly that would be a final to make me utterly unhappy on a personal me-likes me-likes basis eventhough it would for sure display fantastic snooker.

Well, Murphy and Selby practise together don't they? They must know each other's game inside out. It will all depend on the day. My money is on Selby though.

Murphy holds a 3-1 head to head record over Selby. Maguire and Day are 1-1 but Day will win because of the pattern. Also I think Day has played the best snooker this week so far, but has he peeked too soon?

I think that Maguire will be too strong for Day. I saw a couple of frames from yesterday's match, and he looked to be hitting the ball very well.
For those who got up early: Shanghai telly is showing the match now.
Maguire so far in this opening frame has a break of 22, tried to snooker Day behind the brown.
Day just played one of the loose reds into a small pack near the bottom right pocket.
Another shot for contact by Maguire and Day has some options for the reds. One pot of decent length to get on the board here.
Pink on side pocket makes it a break of 7 so far for Day.
Red in corner pocket sends him up to 8, no shot on the pink though so he's going for the green to the top right. Makes contact and leaves the reds bunched up a bit for Maguire.
Maguire taking some time to consider his next shot.
Maguire splits the reds and sends the white all the way back into the D, adjacent to the yellow. Day shoots it long but does not pot anything. Maguire responds by sending the red near the left rail to the opposite corner.
Day cannot pot the red at the bottom right pocket and Maguire sends a red into the right center pocket in response. Now working on a break of 12.
Maguire has extended that break to 28 so far.

"And I'd give him my right arm to have his cue action - poetry in motion."
Brilliant stuff so far! I nearly had a heart attack with the last pink on the 147, but that was a great shot to pull off under that amount of pressure! Day didn't get intimidated by the 147, but quickly took the next two frames.
Now it's 50 to Day in the fifth frame, with Mags on the table and with a very good chance of stealing the frame, even though it looks as though he's trying to make it hard for himself with running out of position.
I recorded what Eurosport transmitted of the 147, but it's a few seconds too long for youtube
