Congrats to Stephen on his second title this season! I'm absolutely chuffed for him. He held himself together well when things weren't going his way, and he even had Murphy looking nervous there, not something you see very often.
Perhaps not the prettiest of snooker, but it sure kept my nerves tingling
I guess Murphy said, Stephen is a very good player and he seems to be his bogey man (3 defeats this season) but he will give him a challenge in the worlds. Good run up to Sheffield for preparation, blablablabla
Maguire replied he respects murphy as a player and could have gone either way. Best way to go to Sheffield, blablablabla.
To win consecutive tournaments is not common. Dott won it last year and went out in Sheffield first round.
yes i agree... championship is something different from all others tournament, of course that maguire will start with some advantage becouse confidence in himself is on very high stage after this match... but one bad day can destroy all that in world championship
10 out of 10 for Maguire. The best player in the tournament. Only saw him have 1 bad time of it & that was after he made his maximum. I know he lost frames in a row in the final, but that wasn't due to his poor play.
Awesome, Stephen! Snooker does have its ways to make up for nasty things, sometimes!
Cheers! Yeah, I'm totally subjective and biased, since I don't like Maguire's opponent one bit, although I respect his snooker. Why do you ask? Would have been too bitter a pill to swallow, after everything that has happened this week!
Thanks, Stephen. The best season.
And keep winning those deciders, good for the morale.
Todays result reaffirms the fact that Murphy will win the Worlds. He won 190th ranking, 200th ranking and the worlds is the 210th. However he could face Maguire, the destroyer of patterns (Feragl at the NIT, Day at the China) in the semis.
Although my money is on Dave Harold to lift the title.
