As a massive ronnie fan i find that highly offensive!

I think after long this thread may get out of hand between ronnie fans and others!
    Rocket Ronnie Rules!!!

Good argument, thingsy. So far, I haven't seen it your way. I was shocked by what I saw throughout the match and by what I heard on the vid.

Btw., among us Ronniefans: Since I became a member I have got the impression that SOME of the other members expect that we apologise for being his fans. Only some of them. Most of them are fair and know a lot about snooker. That's why I enjoy reading their posts.

        Love from an ASBO-Ronniefan

i like many folk who are fans of ROS

i think hes a great player

im not a fan of his though

IMO speaking like that at a press conference is totally bang out of order and shows a lack of respect. i dont know how anyone could even begin to defend him. if it was said in private as a joke then it may have been ok, but hes just shown himself up IMO

Oh, and i don't have any ASBO's

I watched the interview and i must admit i was very bored watching it, how would you feel sitting there for 7 minutes not understanding a word of chinese and then when you do understand something it is a question asking why did you seem to not care and why didn't you play better.....

He was amusing himself with whoever was beside him (does anyone know who that was?) but he did answer every question without being rude and with honesty.

Nothing wrong with having some jokey chat with his mate, just a shame he didn't bother to think about the fact that he would be heard...
ive watched many press conferences over the years and managed to see several from different players while in the far east. almost all of them have sat there while translations are made and behaved impeccably. i cant recall anyone relating microphones to "rude things" in any of them....

There was most probably no other intention... just careless not thinking he could be heard and recorded. Not very smart ... but not nasty neither.
The global result is still uncalled for indeed.

i dont think it was meant as nasty, but i still think it bang out of order not being able to refrain from saying things like that at a press conference, even if he didnt think hed be heard. should have kept it till later

I think 'bang out of order' along with the comments of banning him etc. are a little excessive, but i do agree he has shown himself up! Maybe if he sees the interview he will realise what he was doing........... But i doubt it.... Lol

If he did he wouldn't be Ronnie and lets face it we would all have had a much more boring day on TSF

Guys, guys! I consider myself one of Ronnie's biggest fans in the entire Northern hemisphere and some of you over here know it all too well. But what I've seen in the first 2 or 3 minutes of that press conference has left me baffled, disgusted and hurt, since I have never seen RO'S act like that before. Ever. There are plenty of instances of questionable behaviour from him but never ever has he come across as obscene before.
I am not a native speaker of English but I do believe that the mike moment was a lot worse than some of us may think; I am not going to write what I've managed to understand from the video but it was definitely an invitation to sit down, addressed to a journalist. And not on a chair.
School-boy humour and much worse. The kind of exchange you're likely to hear and to deem normal in 7th grade and not during an official press conference, in a country where good manners are probably even more significant than in certain areas of the Western world. (Please, I wasn't attacking the Western politeness and I don't intend to start an argument on that.) How can someone do that?
Again, I'm disgusted, baffled and hurt. There are things that are just NOT done and there's a huge difference between picking one's nose in public or scratching through one's waistcoat and mumbling lame come-ons while playing with a mike. And no one could convince me that less than perfect social skills would be a valid excuse for such a vulgar display.
Isn't there a smilie that barfs its insides out? I could surely use it now.

I'm retiring to deliberate on my status as a Ronnette. Since I'm not a fairweather fan who denies her fav whenever he gets beaten, it will be that much harder. *sighs
                                Bleah.
