Wasn't Alex Higgins banned for a long time? I cannot remamber the details. Maybe you can remind me?

    Thank you.

    • Higgins was banned for a year in 1986 after headbutting an official at the world championship.

The longest ban must have been for Silvino Francisco, being sentenced for 3 years after bringing illegal substances through dover! He was banned as they did not let him out of porridge during tournaments. .

      • Yes please please please ban him for a season, because in my case snooker has the annoying habit of interfering with real life! So, esteemed disciplinary committee, you'd be doing me a favour. Thank you.
I know it's not a valid contribution to the thread. I'm sorry.

          • I bet The WSA give him a 3 month ban, starting from the 6th of May.

              • The ban would finish at the 6th of august. Only missing the exhibition stuff.

                • Ronnie must be banned at least from three seasons of press conferences!! And the WSA press officer as well! And it is my firm belief that if you catch any player saying anything stupid they should have a good spanking!

And if a player comes to a tournament and doesn't try to win each and every frame - well, then I cannot see anything else than the capital punishement; that is to be locked in a room for 48 hours in the company of frameandfortune.

And this is not a joke!

And, Paul, you're right, I seem to have lost the ability to count! Doh! Thank you.

                    • Mullwarp;

Sarcasm is the lowest form of comedy but I guess you would know all about that. You are guilty of trivialising O'Sullivans antics. His garbage effort on the table coupled with his press conference is a serious matter which must be dealt with. Snooker doesn't want to go the same way as soccer. Maybe you would think it is okay for O'Sullivan to turn up to press conferences naked and start playing with himself on camera? Maybe you are Rodney Walker?!!

No sportsman has ever behaved like this at a press conference. It is wholly unacceptable and must be severely punished. If you think otherwise then stick to chanting 'racist' comments on soccer terraces and throwing chips at people on the bus.

                      • Just curious - what kind of punishment (if any) did Hendry receive for his press-conference at 2005 Worlds - where almost half of his sentence was covered with beeps? I'm assuming it's the one where he said all he thinks about his own game.
Not the same situation for sure, but still... Just interesting.

                            • Frame, I, too, know how to google.

                              Sarcasm is

                              - A cutting, often ironic remark intended to wound
                              - A form of wit that is marked by the use of sarcastic language and is intended to make its victim the butt of comtempt or ridicule

If you see all this in Mullwarp's post....well.

Btw, regarding the intent to wound, I recommend to read the posts of a certain member with a very long name.

I think most people can handle a grown-up man swearing. Making sexual remarks at someone to riddicule is quite something else, and I'd like to think that Hendry would never lower himself to that level.
