Really there isn't much to be added to this thread, it's all been said.

One thing remaining now is frame's attempt to answer to his own hypocrisy. That should be good.

Anyone calling for a permanent ban should prepare for a disappointment. A few people seem delighted with O'Sullivan's actions - it gives them another opportunity to berate him.

Clearly Ronnie didn't use his best judgement in the press conference and he will receive some form of punishment for that. The only good thing to come out of this will be the outrage and frustration of those people who revel in every little thing that Ronnie does wrong when they find out he is not to be publicly hung.
Don't get too excited pal! Mullwarp is a wind up merchant who thinks he is funny. I guess he is if you are the sort of person who watches pop idol.

It is strange that people defending Ronnie are the same people who think it is funny to call Murphy 'fat boy'. It is pretty easy being perfect I guess. I would like to see some of these specimens making these sly remarks. My advice is for you types to grow up.

I don't care much for these Mullwarp stories. It is deflecting away from the issue. Ronnie is out of order. He knows he is provoking the officials with his actions and they keep letting him off. He must be kicked into touch.

    • The ones that should be kicked into touch is the WSA. They have not got a clue how to organize the tour. The UK moved from York to dump Telford. Preston abandoned as well. The NI Trophy moved from august to november and now back to august. There is no consistency or grandeur about venues, how in earth can you hold the second greatest tournament in Telford??!!. Having a 900 capacity crowd?

ROS behaviour is a one off and should be dealt with or not. But its not the main issue, concerning the welfare of snooker.

Thing is, many people (still) believe he is doing the welfare work for today's snooker.

        • I am tired of this 'Ronnie is snooker' nonsense. People making such blind statements are obviously teenagers who don't remember snooker's best days. If he was about in the 80's he would have been way down the pecking order of the entertainers. Snooker has survived without Alex Higgins, is surviving without any major impact from Jimmy White and when Ronnie finally retires or hopefully gets banned will continue to survive.

How many ranking events has he won the last 3 years? He isn't exactly a Federer or Woods is he? I guess in Britain we love a loser though so no wonder he is so popular.

Believe it or not quite a few people(including myself) turn the snooker off when Ronnie is playing as they cannot stand the man wielding the cue.

Quite simply he is a disgrace.

          • Well, its 3.50 in the morning and i needed something to help me sleep.....

The last 5/6 pages of this thread has done the trick....

I really can't believe the attitude of some people on here, and it seems most of it comes from the 'Ronnie haters'.... Getting to the 'pot calling the kettle' point....

Certain people think Ronnie was being very insultive and rude then decide to call other members of this forum insultive and rude names....

Others have called Ronnie 'fans' not real snooker fans then make the statement that they wont watch Ronnie...... Surely a real snooker fan watches snooker for the great snooker thus should not refuse to watch a match coz of one player....

So lets stop this Ronnie fans arnt snooker fans cr4p

Ronnie has done a bad thing, the appropriate people are aware and they will take the action that they feel fitting.

Its a pitty that Hendry and Ronnie fans can't be as friendly to each other as Hendry and Ronnie... I don't know how well they get on but it can't be this bad...

            Come on Shaun

Oh, i'm sorry.... as a Ronnie fan i should not cheer Murphy on but call him 'fat boy' instead....

I dont know if they are friends as such, but any feud between them is well and truly history now. When asked in interviews about each other they each say highly respectful things, and have done for at least a couple of seasons now.

On a different point ,I was thinking to myself during the Welsh Open i think it was, how incident free Ronnie has been this season. Just turning up to tournaments, doing the business proffessionally without even the slightest controversy at all throughout the season. (Apart from the 'bad back' non attendance of the first Chinese tournie)

And then he goes and does this.

It would seem that Ronnie cannot get through a season without at least one 'incident'.

The point is you should think about what you say, like your high and mighty refusal to resort to the childish name calling of the Ronnie 'fanboy'. Didn't you start it?

You continue to generalise about people, putting everyone who shows an admiration for O'Sullivan's ability in the bracket of 'fanboys' and talk as if you're on another level. Weren't you banned for this?

I'm not defending Ronnie at all, what he did was entirely inappropriate and he came off badly. He was showing off a bit and looked pretty immature in the end.

But really, a life ban would be ridiculous and not at all in proportion with the crime. This 'case' has to be treated independantly and not in addition to anything O'Sullivan has done in the past which has already been settled.

We agree he was wrong, we disagree on the level on punishment he should receive. Let's be nice about it...

                • I love that most of you hate frame's "fanboy". As a Ronniefan I am a little ashamed to say that I like the word, the more so cos I'm female.

Nugget, I fully agree to this one:

                  • Fanboys, fangirls, Ronnie haters, whatever. Any member could disappear from this board and it wouldn't matter one iota. What will remain however is Ronnie and his terrible behaviour and this is the issue. Ronnie is provacating Rodney Walker and Walker for once needs to 'jump on him' which means a life ban.

                          • Johnny O'Sullivan?

But will he honour his life ban or be tempted to play on anyway with a different alias?

                            Johnny O'Sullivan?
                            Fonzie O'Sullivan?
                            Jimmy O'Sullivan?

The normal thing to do would be the calling of a press conference where apologies should be expressed or at least the issuing of a press statement, but I won't be holding my breath over this one.

                              • Glad to see Black Cat is still alive and didn't die of a heart attack after those emotional days

Anyway no use punishing ROS, an apology should be sufficient.
Taking some of his ranking points is nonsense as he didn't cheat - or something like that - while he was playing, so he deserved all the points he won.
I saw that going differently in my mind
