The introduction of coffee to my monitor means you owe me a new one, Maija. Serves me right to read certain posts while enjoying a cup of coffee.

      To Maija,

Fantastic comment, the best one out of all 300 odd posts on this thread

      To Frameandforimastupidtwitthattriestowindpeopleupwhi chjusconfirmstoeveryoneelsethatimreallyreallysadan dpathetic,

Thats a real shame coz i'm sure Ronnie would speak very highly of you

And, unfortunately the sewer day can't be arranged for you due to a 'cruelty to rats' issue

If Ronnie met me and spoke highly of me then I would certainly question my own existence.

If I am getting continuous insults from fans of this muppet then at least I know I am getting my comments spot on!

        • Unacceptable as it is, I don't think it's a ban-offence. More likely a fine-offence. He won't get away with it because it's an "international incident" and World Snooker must keep China happy. Sir Rodney Walker apologised to the whole Chinese people so he admited there was a reason for that.

            • I think they should punish him by stoping him playing in this years worlds championship!

That would be enough, and it would give him three weeks to consider his attitude to the game and his fellow humans.

To fill up his place in the draw, I would call Jimmy White and ask him if he has enough time on his hands to play in Sheffield

Please leave me alone with any ramping and rageing about defending poor Ronnie, cos I couldn't give a toss.

And I'm sure he'd finish the job that he failed 6 times before.

                      Thanks, jayhoming.
Thought it was "s… me d…" (letters left out with respect to our younger readers). Don't think it's Chinese. Would have caused an immediate upset then, I suppose.

You're quite right, it wasn't Chinese.

                        • To a casual observer, I have neither axe to grind nor any favouritism so far as ROS is concerned, and also with some concern, one would have to ask why it was necessary to compound the felony with an erroneous allegation about two "syllables" extracted from a short phrase that was quite clear in its intention in English. Was what he said not bad enough already? He, I imagine, does not have the wit to use an alien language to cause greater offence.

jayhoming though you may have some language skills, it is unforgivable, even on the basis of opinion, to make this assertion. I hope you will withdraw it and apologise.

                          • Ronnie who...?

                            Comment

                            • I have also refrained from commenting until listening carefully to the video, and having done so, it is clear that a number of comments that are not English were uttered.

For instance, at about 1 minute 56 seconds, he appears to launch into a rare bourgeois dialect of Jiao Liao Mandarin with some South Western mandarin thrown in, when he asks "Wun ahsuk-zat zen; wun ahkuman suk-zatlae tah?" (roughly translated as "I am honoured to be sitting here; may I beg as your guest that you honour me with more questions?").

At 2 minutes 7 seconds, it seems quite clear that he then combines some ancient forms of Cantonese from the Macau region with Beijing Mandarin pronunciation, when I feel sure that he distinctly states "Sahkmi prik, eneeh wahnwon ahgiv mianosh," (roughly translated as "I am devastated that my best was not good enough to win the match, but thank you for your hospitality and I await with the most eager of anticipation my return to playing in China").
"If anybody can knock these three balls in, this man can."
David Taylor, 11 January 1982, as Steve Davis prepared to pot the blue, in making the first 147 break on television.

                              • I have to admit to being baffled by the amount of support for Ronnie in this debate. He was clearly way out of line, very disrepectful to the hosts of the event, in many ways racist, and very, very patronising and obviously lowered himself to a gutter level with his remrks.

It is perhaps a sad indictment on today's society that many contributors think it is worthy of laughter or no level of punishment.

Why has Rodney Walker apologised? This is akin to a mother apologising for the behaviour of their 6 year old child.

Ronnie cannot be permitted to escape heavy punishment. He hasn't learned from his previous mistakes(of which there is a very long list) and continues to destroy the sport's reputation. I am no fan of golf but no golfer would ever get away with what he has done in his career.

Snooker's authorities must stop burying their heads in the sand and deal with this menace who is single handlely ruining the sport's reputation.

I personally am tired of everything this boy does on and off the table. It would be nice if he would just go away and annoy some other element of society.
