I dont think its the end for Ding at all. We will see him go far in Sheffield IMO.

No, ain't the end for Ding just yet.

I remember seeing Davis, Doherty, Griffiths and Ebdon talk about him in the Welsh Open 2009 and how the whole China was behind him and how it could affect him as they would just destroy him if he had a bad performance. That kind of pressure can seriously get on your nerves and subsequently you play bad.

If he somehow manages to keep the media's opinion away and don't care about what China says, he should be fine. May take some time though ...

I don't think it's the end of Ding Junhui. He is young, he is talented and [IMHO] he can make his game better. It's just question of time, maybe.

I think Ding is suffering from all the hype and expectation pressure especially playing in China. He is literally a national hero and he was set up to play a Chinese player which was considered as an underdog. Ding is believed to never lost to another Chinese player in China. But at that level anyone can beat anyone it is just a matter of who is in form.

Ding is going to do just fine as he matures. He has just had his birthday, and I look forward to him doing well in the World championship.

There's nothing wrong with it but I think a Top 16 player needs to display good traits in every department and subsequently he wouldn't really give a good name to a "Top 16 player" or be an example of it. To me, a "Top 16 player" doesn't just mean someone who is in that ranking position. It means someone who has an all rounded game, if that makes sense.
Totally agree. I like Liang's personality so much more than his playing style. IMO, snooker is a way more complicated game (tactical side) than other cue sports. I'd like to see how a top player handle his game rather than just potting the ball. Otherwise, 9 ball maybe a more interesting game to me.

Back to the topic, there are some facts such as immatural personality, education level, etc that affect Ding's game, but I never stop supporting him from the beginning. Who else has not experienced this situation in the whole life. It is too soon to tell whether or not it is an end of a player only based on his performance. Being exposed to Chinese media is very hard to imagine as long as you live in such environment for a while. After all, Ding is the first Chinese mainland snk player who won the title and have been in TOP16 for more than 2 years. The pressure from media, his family, and his fans like me, on him is nurmorous. I believe JiangYu will have similar opinions as we both know China well and can see more in our side.

There's an old saying in sport which is very true:

'Form is temporary. Class is permanent'

Ding has won 3 ranking titles including the UK already and made 2 147s on TV. Only a top class player will ever do that.

I think he's on a slump at the moment because he's not a complete match player yet and tends to struggle in scrappy matches. But winning those matches will come with experience and I'm sure this lad will be a ranking event winner again and top 8 regular for many years.

the most frightening thing about Dings season is his break-building with only 51 half centuries

                      and only 7 centuries

for a player that is such accomplished in break-building with reaching 100 centuries in 5 seasons that i think is a major concern so early in his career that not only his game is struggling but the strong point of his game isn't working.....very similar to Hendry but Hendry is 40 and ding is 22 and should be approaching his prime..

Maybe its a temporary decline. Although he looks very lacklustre.

As previously mentioned his once superb temper seems to be getting the better of him. i wonder if its long before we see an act of petulence on the table? i hope not but in his defeat in China I was half expecting him to bang the table or something. he hasnt so far in his career as I remember anyone else?

marco fu said age 30 is the best age for snooker player, i think the reason that ding is still not mature enough, is because he haven't lose enough game, learn enough lesson, but this season i see Ding, play more reasonablely, manage both offence and defence,
the reason that he lose to Xiao , i think it's he under estimate him, and not concentrate enough the same reason as Marco fu lose to Tian,
the gap between player are shrinking more and more, so i have to show what all you got to win a game,
Ding is still young, he can still find his way out, but i think he can still maitain the TOp 16, because unless he play too bad, i think he cannot lose to Liang wen bo, because he have a tougher psyche than Liang
