I turned off the commentary just to be able to hear what they said. I didn't hear Ronnie be rude at all, just clearly irritated at the ref. Usually you don't hear much, but poor Scullion didn't cover his mike very well!

Ronnie should probably have accepted the decision without arguing and it was out of order. Still I don't think he did it because he considers himself bigger than the game. It's just that he is himself and quite like McEnroe in his time if he thinks he's right he will fight and argue to make his point. He doesn't do it very often neither (whatever some here say) and it does not depend wether the ref is experienced or not. My last recollection of a previous longish discussion was with Michaela Tabb who he quite likes and certainly respects.

BTW it did him not good as obviously he lost his concentration and it could well have cost him the match.

Not exactly the same but if your saying Ronnie was in the mood to argue and mess about the referee doesnt matter to him.
If it's the same frame I'm thinking off - it was more a good spirited end to the frame IMO. Ronnie wanted to play with his cue the wrong way around at one point!

I think all 3 of them were just having a bit of fun.

I turned the volume up to hear what ronnie was saying - he repeated "pathetic" about four times. I guesss that could be considered "rude". Wonder if he'll get a disciplinary for that.

To be fair to Ronnie though its not JUST him that argues with the refs. I seem to remember Allen, Maguire, Dott and even John Higgins have all got into disagreements with the refs at some point....

In case of any disciplinary sanction I suggest a referees strike ;this is an intollerable attitude ,Ronnie O'Sullivan is a great player of snooker but not THE SNOOKER

Think differently... (when do I not? =o\ )

ROS wasn't just playing tempermental Number One in the World.
By pulling rank on the ref, stopping the frames momentum, intimidating the hell out of the young Xiao,
he took control in his difficult situation... he threw a spanner in the works, in other words...
                O'Sullivan was a human snooker!

                Brilliant.

                =o)

PS... ROS is just about the only player I can think of who can and does that.

I remember same time last year most of us were up in arms about some nudge-nudge-wink-offers and microphone dimensions and whatnot, so I'm quite pleased that the tournie's controversy master has toned it down a lot, comparatively.

And Ronnie sometimes doesn't pick his battles well but who does all the time?

This is O'Sullivan's third little incident with refs in China this season. In the Shanghai Masters he was given a warning by Brendan Moore in one of his matches. Then he had an incident with Camilleri in the final. Apparently he didn't like the sounds Camilleri was making when he was standing behind him.

It was that incident, and O'Sullivan did take notice of Chamberlain when told "Play properly." He did at least then turn his cue around and hit the white with the tip rather than the butt.
Strictly speaking, Chamberlain should probably not have said this as he was warning O'Sullivan that he was about to foul!

I'm sure if it was Peter Ebdon involved people would say he was wasting time and slowing the pace of the match and whatnot.

He still continued to strike balls that werent on i.e green when yellow was next in sequence. But an irrelevant argument I was just saying the referee doesnt seem to make a difference if he feels like making a point that was all.
