Didn't Matthew Selt get off to a fantastic start to the season too, not loosing a match in the first 3 qualifying events or something ?

Selt has won 13 as well, but of course they have played one tournament more than the top 16. Just shows how hard it is to get up the ladder with the way tournament work and the seeds getting the byes through the respective rounds. If you were to put some of the top 16 and I would say most of those 17 - 32 into the first QR, I would say that few would have done as consistently well this season based on form as Tony Drago or Matt Selt.

He got to the first two venues, but beat in last QR of UK (i think) and has won a match in each of last two tournaments, so yes, he has 13 as well. Drago could overtake him tomorrow and if he goes on to the venue and wins a match and Higgins got beat in 1st round, he could have joint most match wins of any player on tour and still would be just outside top 48. (needs to get to QF to get to top 48)
Tony is 9th in the frames won %, 7th in the points for/frames averages, 5th in the points against/frames averages, he had the 12th most 50+ breaks, and is 21st in the 50+ brake rates list. Who would have thought that before the start of the season?

He has exceeded many peoples expecations i think. Good on him for sure. Stephen Lee may be one player too much for him though, but i said the same about Gerrard Greene, so who knows.
I dont want to jump the gun but if Tony manages to do as well as this in the world qualifiers he might be getting close to pushing for a top 32 slot. That would have been unimaginable only a few months ago.

Not quite, he'd basically need to make the semis at the worlds to do that. Top 64 with a one-year ranking in the top 48 would be a brilliant result though.

Yay, so how many years does one need & how good does he need to do to reach top 16.
