This tournament has an unfortunate slot on the calendar, but it proved once again that it's a great event. I'm sure everyone is even more excited about the WC now.

And speaking of that, Williams now has the curse of being the winner of the previous event, so out he goes, probably against O'Sullivan. And judging by Ding's form, he is a bit early with his best form as well, so he could be in trouble against Murphy. But then again, judging by Murphy's form, he didn't time it too well himself. I can't wait...
The WC will be made for me if Williams beats O'Sullivan.

            • Same as yesterday, Josephine started to get going unstoppably a bit later into the match.
The best reason at least major tournaments should keep longer formats. And looks good for Williams' chances in WC.

Same as yesterday, and in the match against Selby, Ding's hands were suddenly not as reliable towards the end. And this final looked a bit similar to GP, where in the last frames Ding wasn't winning safety battles anymore. Is he a bottler looking for good enough opposition?

As Odrl noted, Ding should have got a bigger advantage in the 1st part of the match, when he still could. And Williams is no Ronnie, not gonna give frames away when opponent needs a snooker

              There's a bet for WC:
              The Field 1.80 vs Big 3 (R O'Sullivan, J Higgins & Mark Selby) 1.90
Is it not a time yet to change the top 3 favorites

              • Great award ceremony. Ding getting toy car instead of a trophy plate. Then Williams given smaller trophy plate. Then trophy taken away from him. Then finally he gets the bigger trophy for photos.

At least he wasn't doing eyebrow dance..

                  • Hope Williams keeps this up, he's one of my favourite players to watch. Williams/O'Sullivan over 25 frames would be brilliant.

I didn't watch the award ceremony so I don't know if I'm right but I saw the pic on worldsnooker site: Chairman Barry Hearn didn't make the trip to China??...

                            Me2 [ at least the MJW part ] .

Aside from the fact that this final was of excellent quality, and thoroughly enjoyable,
it also pointed out to me something often overlooked. And that is, while Ding has all the form and
skills to be a champion, the winning difference was the been-there-done-that composure and grace
Williams brought to the table in addition to his top skills. And that knowing what to do at just the right
time and doing it only comes with maturity. This is why it would be very unusual for a player as young
as Ding to attain a World Championship. I expect he will, I expect Robertson well could... one day.

I am over the moon at Williams' win - a class act!
But, also because it was his "Hello I'm back!"shout out!

                            Well done Mark J.

                              • Congratulations to Mark Williams. This tournament raised more questions than it answered regarding the World Championship. Williams, Ding and Carter certainly established themselves amongst the big foavorits.
