Presumably the remaining question marks will remain, not only until the earlier draw is made, but until the winners of those earlier groups are known!

      Yes.
who do you think from the seeded players has a chance?
I think Hamilton will suceed but McManus has a very hard group, with Higgins and Hawkins to contend with.

Statman, Dont you think the format for the Grand Prix will have much more weight for the prediction quiz now, as there are more matches played in this tournament than in the others

Interesting to see that the winners of the UK championship and the world championship have been drawn into the same group.
You play a long slow deadweight red to a corner pocket. As it approaches the pocket, a kamikaze woodlouse crawls out from under the cushion and makes its way across the table, conflicting with the path of the red precisely at the point the red gets there. The red, needless to say, veers off course, and the future of the woodlouse is uncertain. - The Statman

Is it top two going through from each group?

The toughest Group has to be Group H. So far I think Ebdon has the easiest group along with Murphy but the qualifiers could change that.

                Alex

They all look tough, but group F looks like the group of death to me.

                All should be interesting though.

I agree that Ebdon has the easiest group so far.

The most interesting groups however should be B and H. Carter, Day and King could all win against each other and maybe even Murphy (hopefully!!! ;-)).
As for H, Ding is in it... that should be enough to make it a tough group for all the others.

Should be interesting. I would expect say Ronnie, to easily top his group but as it's best of only 5 anything can happen.....

Will it work though, will the format work I wonder????

If a top six or eight player in the world eventually wins, then most people will say the format has worked and that the winner is not a surprise winner. However if a qualifier wins then people will say that the format is not a good enough test of a player and that the cream has failed to rise to the top.... But we all remember the winner of the 2005 WC don't we?? A 150-1 outsider who had to qualify!!!!

So what exactly is the correct format? Answer: there isn't one..... A change is a good thing and I think it will be fascinating seeing so many different match-ups...

I think its a good idea to try a new format. Its also interesting we will be able to watch more players in more matches.

I agree Paul. Will be good to see more players on the one day.

How many tables will there be in the arena? or are they playing in different spaces?
