Jimmy fell from 8th to 35th in the rankings after the last season ( and most likely he's ranked in the mid 50s after the GP failure) , his qualifying victory over Burden, was indeed the first in a year. I only hope these victories here will give him some buzz, and he gained confidence for the next qualifyings. He needs more ranking points so he can stay in top 64.
To stick up with the positive thinking is the best his fans and Jimmy himself can do and hopefully we will see him in some final rounds in the future tournaments.

    • So apologies for not checking through this whole thread as I have very little time. Loads of work to do and people keep interrupting me to say Happy Birthday for some reason...

Anyway, can anyone post the final positions for each of the Groups? Also, anyone heard any comments from the players about the format? Round-robin/short matches/ etc?

      Cheers

Even if Tom Ford loses his match against Patrick Einsle and Joe Jogia or Lee Spick also end up at 3 points, Tom Ford has beaten both of them, so he can't lose his second spot anymore.

It's kind of weird they went with head-2-head before frame average. Most sports that use a round robin format use frame scores or goal scores first. Ah well.
If Tom Ford Looses and Alfie Burden wins then they will both be on the same games won but Alfie beat Ford 3-0 so he is not guarenteed through!!!

          • I thought Alfie Burden only won one match. But maybe I was a victim of the lack of updates!

What will happen if: Einsle bt. Ford 3-1, Spick bt. Jogia 3-2 and Allen bt. Burden 3-2?

                  I get these results:
                  1. Mark Allen 5 wins, +5 frames
                  2-5. Jimmy White 3 wins, +0 frames
                  2-5. Tom Ford 3 wins, -1 frame
                  2-5. Lee Spick 3 wins, -1 frame
                  2-5. Patrick Einsle 3 wins, -1 frame
                  6. Joe Jogia 2 wins, +0 frames
                  7. Alfie Burden 2 wins, -2 frames

Obviously, Jogia would finish before Burden, cause their match ended 3-0 in favor of Jogia. But, what about the 2-5 places? Is there still hope for White?

This is cut from the tournament rules:
                  7. Should there be an equal number of matches won by two or more players, then the following criteria will determine the final position of each player in each group:
7.1 The player with the best Frame difference
7.2 If two players are still equal, the winner of the match between the two players who are equal

                  • Well good morning Sir

Nice to see another name from my stats pages:

                    Bjørn l'Orange appears here:
                    http://www.thesnookerforum.com/showthread-t_1799.html

                    http://www.thesnookerforum.com/showthread-t_1818.html

A very good World Championship record, 73.68% match wins (14 out of 19) and 57.73% frame wins (127 out of 220) (excludes one walkover which Bjørn received) – see last link above.

Does Walden not go through as runner-up because of his superior frames difference?
