  • Dott still angry despite win

That's the heading of the following BBC article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/othe...er/6075068.stm

However, the only quote contained therein is something along the lines of "It feels awkward. If I get through it'll feel like I've played a best-of-33."

Forgive me, but to me that does not actually convey his being 'angry', just that it is different.

Did anyone see Dott's interview? Was he angry? Or did he say just what was quoted above?

He probably just said what was quoted, they know he did not like format before tourney began and are making more of that than they should, as the press are prone to do.
"I tried to be patient, but it took too long"

I think its starting to be a habit. If you are world champion you start moaning! (like Murphy did last season). Its for everyone the same package.

oh he was angry all right. he headbutted a bag of grapes in his dressing room.

seriously though, the press seems to be trying to get quotes regarding the format making it look controversial, instead of a freshen up, and "experiment"

Now that I've been watching it, I actually really like this format. I think it's fun to watch and would love to be there watching all these short matches.

maybe he does. i doubt dott does, especially when he loses.

Semih, how about picking up your ol' profession of a chief story teller as you used to be in some certain community of interest?

My bet would be that the press wants its stereotypes, so when Ronnie does something irratic, they write about that more eagerly than if Hendry would do it, if Murphy is boastful they write about that and if Dott says something that can be seen as whining, they will write about that, and put it forward in a way that is supposed to boost role of the stereotype.

well, i do think best of 5 is short, someone who is not so good will have more chance to fluke a win, but as Murphy put it, good players should win eventually. you can be forgiven for losing one, but if you lose two, you are simply not good enough to progress.

Thing is, we've had a 147, we've had 6 breaks over 140, we've had numerous other centuries... Apparently, most players were fine. Bunch of whiny Scots!
