  • Members who attended this tournament...

would like to hear the opinions of the forum mebers who went to spectate at the grand prix in aberdeen

particulary about the venue, the table layouts, and any other information which others whove not been to tournaments, or to many, will appreciate.

basically, your thoughts on the tournament as a whole, and aberdeen as a host.

I thought aberdeen was a great place and i definately hope to go back one day.

The venue seemed a bit out of the way if you didnt have a car but it was a good venue and its just good that Scotland has a ranking event.

After the final, i heard Sir Rodney tell someone that it'd definately be back in the granite city next year, which is good... but i'd like to see something at Preston too.

I think as a first time visitor to a live snooker event my opinion would be somewhat biased, but I loved the tournament (though would be nice if Ronnie could be playing some days more, but that's just my personal feeling), the venue (even though I didn't have a car, but it was fairly easy accessible by bus) and Aberdeen itself.

I was afraid the view of the table will not be as good as on TV, but it was great both sitting at the side of the table or the baulk end. Thought that it's a shame that there vere so little spectators for the semifinals, but maybe that's because all big crowd favourites were out.

Oh and yes, the people in Aberdeen were very nice and helpful. Even opened ticket box office two hours earlier just for me so I could get tickets to the semifinal

Aberdeen is rubbish bring it back to Preston!!!!
The fact I live near Preston in no way makes me biased!

I didn't actually go this year, so I don't know what is was really like...
but the fact that Aberdeen isn't near my house is a massive black mark against it!

Same Although I may be going next year
You play a long slow deadweight red to a corner pocket. As it approaches the pocket, a kamikaze woodlouse crawls out from under the cushion and makes its way across the table, conflicting with the path of the red precisely at the point the red gets there. The red, needless to say, veers off course, and the future of the woodlouse is uncertain. - The Statman

I thought it was a nice venue, although very uncomfortable seats on the long side of the table! I wouldn't mind if it was held there next year, the only disadvantage is as kellie-text said - everything is quite far away. But luckily we were in the hotel connected to the venue so didnt really need to leave!

I have been to Aberdeen the last couple times that a tourney was held there although I did not go to see this charade of an event and the snooker loving people of Aberdeen also voted their distaste of the round robin by simply not turning up in any great numbers.
If the Association want to play with players livelhoods experimenting with new formats they should have at least done the proper research.
In MY view that was not done.

I'd say it wasn't near my house too. In fact, I don't think there is any pro snooker events near my house at all!

Could be a bit trouble getting to work every day from another country! Better move snooker events here
