Unbelieve how Hendry lost that match! Davies got one of the worst cue actions I've ever seen on TV; stabbing the ball like that looks terrible.

And Maguire should have tried much harder, he didn't want Hendry to qualify; revenge for all those years when Hendry beat him 15-0 on a daily basis.

And our team bottled the chance of securing their spot in the Euro 2008!

I'm off to bed, this is just too much!

The decline of Hendry is even accelarating it seems. He had enough matches and chanches to qualify this time - so no excuses for him. It' s sad to see him struggle like this.

Has anyone seen/heard any comment from Hendry?

I had to watch the 147 from the dciding frame vs Ronnie in Liverpool 1997 before trying to get some sleep yesterday. What a frame!!!

Then I dreamt they misunderstood the tiebreaking rules and Hendry and Hawkins were to play a knockoutgame to settle the group. But when the match was to begin, it was Hendry vs Loa Falkman (a swedish singer/actor) playing....

that was my fear in the 8th post (mine) on this thread HERE last year, when discussing the then new format

still, if you dont win your games, then its "your own fault" youve not progressed, as you then wouldnt need to rely on other results...or worry if folk are trying 100% in them

I am agree with you . Hendry is my favourite and now for me Grand Prix is not the same .Hi dont play very well dut this was a bad luck too .

agreed hege...its a "flaw" in the format, in that, players dont maybe want to use up mental energy during a tournament they know they will progress in, and maybe of the opinion that its tough t*tty for those who dont progress, due to their inability to get "up for it"...as long as he tries. dont think he didnt try...just that maybe not anywhere near focused

Slowly but surely, the King is dying. The problem is that no one seems capable to take over the crown.

Its not just a flaw in this though its in a flaw in every group based event. For example teams get knocked out before their last match in the World Cup and thus play their reserves or as we see now in the Euro qualifiers Russia need to beat an Israel side that are already out. You cannot possibly change the format to stop things like this happening.

make it a certain amount of ranking points per win in your group....the maximum points for getting to the next round be for all match wins...ok that may not suit all, as some will top tables on perfect records, and get more points than someone getting through on one loss and the rest wins, but at least it means every match carries points.....
